It seems like you're missing some vanilla files (anything in 7DaysToDie_Data is vanilla). However this might just be nothing; best to check in the general help side of the forums!

Me and my boyfriend have a server with your mod. We used to play vanilla and recently we download some mods to test on alpha 21.
He's having a bug that he didn't have before when we were playing vanilla. Basically, when he drinks water or any other drinkable item, the water bar doesn't go up, like he didn't drink anything. This only happens with the drink meter. It keeps goind down and drinking something doesn't change anything. If is a drink with buffs, he gets the buffs normally, but not the water itself.
He then dies, and for a while, the bug disapears, but come back again after some time. I looked online about this kinda bug and didn't find anything. This doesn't occur with me, just him.ย 
I'm sorry to bother you if this is not a bug from your mod, I'm new to the game and I know the game has a lot of bugs itself, that's why I don't know if it's a mod bug or not.
Your mod is the only one that adds food/water stuff. But just to be sure, I'll put the other mods we use down below. If there's anything you need me to do or send to you, just let me know.

Hey, it's totally okay! I know it's also not the place to go for general bugs, but I'm not that strict about who goes where so long as someone gets the help they need, and if I can direct you to the right place, then so be it! Unfortunately, I have never encountered this bug myself and I play with my own mod 100% of the time (I genuinely do not play vanilla without it anymore!), but who knows, you know? I don't play multiplayer, so I myself have never encountered this bug. And given that you've said it happens to vanilla water as well, it must be something with vanilla.

Most people usually stop here and tell you to make sure your game files are validated through steam (right-click on game in library, properties, files, verify integrity of game files), so try that first. If it's just your and your boyfriend, then you can also turn off EAC since I doubt either of you are going to actively enable creative mode or do anything harmful to each other in the game (I've heard some mods don't work unless it's disabled, and mine may be one of them). And if all else fails, then try having your boyfriend test your mod list in single player (and you as well!), to see if it occurs there, and if it does, then you've at least narrowed it down to something happening in multiplayer, which could mean that something is bugged with your server, and in that case I have no idea how to help you, as I've never played around with servers!

 
I sadly have to report that my boyfriend and me have the same problem with your mod. We mad sure we both and the server have the mod installed and yet, I can see the icons but he doesnยดt.

We checked his folder and the icons are there. Whats odd is that I copied my mods ordner and gave it to him so we have the same copy. We have a couple of other mods running too but we get no error messages while loading the game. I have gathered some of the items and they all are working. The vending machines are also showing your items. We can both buy and use them. They are definetely working for him too. The only thing is that he doesnยดt have the icons showing.

Can it be that its a grafic setting in the options menue that is causing this? Because I donยดt know what else it could be.

It's possible that it could be a graphics setting, I don't know why I didn't think of thatโ€”though I'm not sure which it could be...

Under the spoiler are the graphics settings I use as of Alpha 21.2 (latest experimental right now), and I can see them. It's also possible the mod didn't install correctly, which can happen sometimes, and a quick reinstall might also fix it. I've also heard sometimes that mods that add in icons need to have EAC turned off, but if you both have them you should be able to see them. Is it possible they need to be on server side, too, if you're running a server?

If it helps any more, as well, these are my current PC specs, at least what's relevant:

RX 580 (8GB)

Ryzen 5 3600x

32GB RAM

(and I play on an SSD, not an HDD)

the 32gb is honestly just for playing mod packs like Undead legacy, since it takes up a lot of ram, as well as other more recent titles like Resident Evil 4 and such. My card isn't considered "powerful" anymore so I have to stick with half textures or I get nervous about VRAM usage (though it's usually fine unless I'm in a city). CPU can handle the game fairly well as well, and I do have dynamic mesh on; I play windowed borderless with no dynamic resolution. I don't know how much of any of this will help, but maybe it might.


If any of this works please let me know so I can add it to my post for others!

I forgot to mention in my post that we already turned EAC off. And the server has the mod installed. We will install the mod again on his device and if it doesnยดt work then I will take a look at our video settings and try to figure out why he canยดt see the icons.

I will let you know the outcome of our search. Thank you again for your help.

Apart from reinstalling the mod, unfortunately noย : (

Everything in the mod seems to be working just fine, it's just that sometimes the icons won't show! I'm really not sure what causes it.

oh no the icons show jsut fine im talking about drinking anything but my thirst doesn't go up im pretty sure its not your mod tho.

just found a fix idk if it will work for everyone but i changed myย region and loaded my world and usedย console command to give myself water and my thirst meter started working like normal still dont why what makes the bug happensย

Ah! I read it wrong, sorry! You caught me right when I'd just woken up. I didn't even think to look at the message you were quoting ๐Ÿ˜ญ

I don't think not being able to drink water is a problem with my mod, but it is weird that it's happened twice with Various Victuals installed.

As far as I know none of my items change the water item itself; a few drinkables are based on boiled water and one or two teas (as well as I think mega crush and alcohol), but that shouldn't effect or change how boiled water itself works. If anything, try removing all of your mods and add them back in to a new, separate game than the one you're currently playing, and see if it is my mod! If so, I can try and figure out what's causing it.

If it isn't Various Victuals, then at least you'll know which mod is causing the bug to occur when it pops up again. And if it still sometimes happens in vanilla 7 Days to Die, then you can check the bug pool and list of bugs and if it isn't there, let them know, since that's a pretty significant bug given the new water changes!

 
Hi y'all! Been a while, and I apologize, sometimes I get so caught up in other things I forget other things. This mod happened to be one of them (and it won't happen again!)

This is just a quick update that I will be converting this mod to Version 1.0, and including any new food items not already included in the mod (off of the top of my head, since I haven't yet seen any new food items while playing yet, there are the Goblin-O's cereal, Salt Overkill Ramen, and Oops! All Air BBQ chips, all of which will be about as rare as wine because they do not show up on any store shelves that I've seen, nor do the BBQ chips show up in the vending machine! The ramen will also have a cooked variant that will probably include the need for an egg and one or two raw meat, and give a little food, perhaps just a little better than bacon and eggs).

I do also have ideas for other small / lightweight modlets for things and I am thinking about posting those too, but we'll see!

For now, like everyone else, I'm simply enjoying playing Version 1.0 and familiarizing myself with it in case I need to rebalance anything! On the to-do list already is tweaking the food's dukes values in vending machines and traders, as the vending machine food and drinks got a slight tweak (but I could be hallucinating).

I may also make the tools and nails bundles an optional mod instead, but again, I'd need to think on it!

Happy Version 1.0 everyone! I hope everyone else is having as much fun as I am thus far. :)

 
I try not to ping this place too much as I realize it can be annoying, but I'd just like to let those who follow this know that the current version for A21 also works, seemingly seamlessly, with version 1.0. The current version does not include all the changes, fixes, and additions that I want to add, but if you really miss the mod in your gameplay then at least you are safe knowing that it seems to work!

There are still some minor fixes in this version I did not notice, but those will be remedied for the 1.0 version when I updateโ€”it is coming, rest assured. I am waiting until stable releases just in case something breaks between then and now. That being said, feel free to add this version even with its spelling errors and please don't forget that it's not a joke, the raw flour item in my mod will instantly kill you (like broken glass does, or used to) if you eat it. I take food safety very seriously 'round these parts!

The same way you download and install any mod, my friend! Unfortunately I do not know how to install to a server (I think it follows the same general steps, but you install it to a Mods folder within the 7DaystoDie server folder... I am probably very wrong on that; I do know you need to have EAC off, so please be careful with who you decide to share your server with when having it installed!), but the general gist of installing my mod, and any mod really, for a singleplayer world is this:

  • make sure you have some sort of unzipping program, like 7zip or WinRARโ€”I, unfortunately, don't know if it's possible to unzip a compressed file without them
  • Download the mod's .RAR file from the link in my original post, which should be from MediaFire
  • Unzip and open the file, by double-clicking itโ€”a window should pop up showing the contents of the compressed file
  • Copy the named folder (should be something like VergilSpardaVx4_1.3, I think?) to the 7 Days to Die Mod folder


    the mod folder can be in one of two places, but not both: in the steamapps/common/7DaystoDie folder, or in the AppData/Roaming/7DaystoDie folder (I believe the latter is if you have it installed on PC through the Xbox app, but I could be wrong!)


    If the folder isn't there, you can simply create a new folder in either place and name it Mods (with the capital M), and it will work



[*]Alternatively, you can do steps one and two, and instead of opening the file itself, you can right-click on the file, again making sure you have 7Zip or WinRAR installed, and choose "Extract Here" (Extract Here is in WinRAR, which is what I use, I am not sure which it is for 7Zip)


  • Because my mod is already in a folder within the .RAR file, make sure you choose "Extract Here" and not "Extract to [insert folder name here]". Doing so will nest the mod into another folder, and it will not work in game until you pull that folder out into the Mods folder!



I did not even think that someone may not know how to install the mod and I apologize! What is common knowledge to me is not to others and that's 100% on me. Hopefully my instructions help, and if not, there should be guides out there on how to install mods if you need something visual, like a video! Thank you for showing interest in my mod, and I hope that you can install it with little to no issue. ๐Ÿ’™

Originally, I considered the prices of the items to be less (45 instead of 60/90 like vanilla) because most of the items are considered 'snacks' and not meals/canned food, which are more filling, and be easily available for the early game (especially now, with the change of trader rewards and the dukes they give!). But I do see a flaw with that, especially with the updated vanilla food and their prices. Some of my snacks give more food than low-tier vanilla items, which is something I'll be changing when I update it. I'm always open for suggestions and help, since this is my first big mod, so how much would you be willing to pay in-game for VV's snacks as opposed to vanilla food?
