You know, a Rube Goldberg machine works just fine the way it is. Should we keep it or is it alright to have a more basic mouse trap?Just another dumbing down of gameplay that worked the way it was just fine...

And after that, brass items, like doorknobs and radiators.I’m ok with the change. Looking at it top-down, it definitely was pointless. I’m just concerned at how basic mining is becoming. It would be cool if this was to make room for more mining content, perhaps copper and zinc to make brass... but we all know that’s just too in depth for this game.
What I expected to be removed from the game are lead trophies and lead fishing sinkers. There is absolutely no reason to try to hang onto those to maximize smelting gains... lead is just too abundant in the game to even be concerned.
They have stated that excess icons/menu/inventory fillers slow down performance. I assume that this is similar (as well as bringing it in line with the rest). What this boils down to, is that looters can't get raw iron, they only get scrap, so they want to reward looters more. This is becoming a shooter looter. Cannot understand why changes like this are important.
Why rollback systems that really have no negative impact instead of working on moving forward?
I agree, I seen this change and I was like "Its about time", same for the logs into planks and such, while it makes sense from a realistic perspective, gameplay wise it was just a pointless step that we could do without. They kept the same ratio of scrap iron to the raw iron so nothing is lost. Other than a item that really had no purpose other than to smelt it down. You couldn't even scrap it in inventory for the full 5 iron each, you got like 3. Much prefer it like it is now myself. Plus it makes getting iron for upgrading bases much easier as well. As no need to smelt it down then make the forge puke it out again.I'm already used to not having to waste time for additional scrapping if I need actual iron instead of ore that doesn't really serve any other purpose then being just another item.
Its the exact same case as having logs you'd have to turn into planks before use.
A single icon/item probably has little impact on performance. But for the myriad of items/icons for which they have done that, the gains add up. Should they have said, "Well, it's just one item/icon" for all of the others? So, we really think that taking away one single icon/item here will increase performance? I don't see this making a difference.
I for one have never really had any performance issues, (other than when I collapse a hotel or something).
There was a satisfying feeling to mining ore and smelting vs using scrap iron. Scrap was the crap you used when you didn't mine enough. I can see where people wouldn't care. But to me, (and clearly others) this feeling of using the superior material to smelt with will be gone now, for the cost of a single icon.
Wouldn't doubt it... the one thing that makes sense not to scrap. And after that, brass items, like doorknobs and radiators.
Not sure what's hard to understand about it...raw iron>scrap iron. Heavy looters that don't like mining don't get raw iron...raw iron disappears and it's all just iron.A single icon/item probably has little impact on performance. But for the myriad of items/icons for which they have done that, the gains add up. Should they have said, "Well, it's just one item/icon" for all of the others?
Also, let's not pretend that the change boiled down to just one thing (and certainly not the just one thing which I threw out there). I simply was pointing out one negative impact it (along with the others) had. You, on the other hand, have yet to answer the reverse of how it rewards looters and why that is the intended reason for the change.
I came here ready to say things, but you said them all here, so thank you. This is such a dumb change, all in the name of "streamlining". I'm getting Diablo 3 vs Diablo 2 vibes. Not sure what's hard to understand about it...raw iron>scrap iron. Heavy looters that don't like mining don't get raw iron...raw iron disappears and it's all just iron.
There have to be better ways to deal with performance issues instead of taking away items and removing options for different ways of playing in a sandbox game.
This is not dying light, where you have a handful of crafting ingredients and throw them together to make everything. Crafting/gathering depth includes all of these little things, like raw iron, or like doorknobs and trophies to scrap. It adds immersion and depth to the game. Why not just loot raw brass off a shelf instead of a trophy you have to scrap?
How is raw iron > scrap iron? Not sure what's hard to understand about it...raw iron>scrap iron. Heavy looters that don't like mining don't get raw iron...raw iron disappears and it's all just iron.
Raw iron yields more forge ready iron per increment than scrap does. How is raw iron > scrap iron?
are you guys out of your minds?....That weird half step was some legacy nonsense.
QFT. Good riddance to a useless material. That weird half step was some legacy nonsense.
