The jump from Unity 5 (or 2017?) to Unity 2018 really doesn't require much converting, the biggest changes are graphics oriented such as shaders and a few editor gizmos changes. The only things that should take a lot of time (and this is if they don't have a developer that has sat down and learned the ins and outs of the systems) is any 3rd party tools they use such as UFPS, UMA, NGUI. They would have to wait for the authors of those plugins to update them, then they would have to redo any changes they made to those systems prior to updating them such as their UFPS modifications (they could also just not update 3rd party stuff if there is not a compatibility issue between versions of Unity). If converting systems was a time issue, UMA is probably the culprit since It has changed the most in the last 6 months. But systems such as the voxel engine, inventory system, netcode, AI, should have been generally unaffected apart from editor code that takes a few minutes to fix. Then again making sure the entire team is running the same updated version could be a time consuming hassle. They have switched to a new version of Unity in the past and that game update didn't take as long to get out, there is just a lot of new content coming and a lot of new team members. This next version is special since they're converting it to a newer version of Unity and need to rebuild a lot of things to make them work in the new engine.
In the words of LMFAO, "STOP! Hatin is bad."
A8 for Empyrion locked me out from 8.0 through to 8.2 due to a bug (which is still there, but now with a workaround). You have lost your mind. there is nothing similiar about this game. I run a server for Empyrion and 7DTD and although the updates may come more frequently for Empyrion, they are ridden with bugs. I would rather wait a year for a finessed new look at a game then have world breaking updates every week or two. E8.2.1 for Empyrion was so ridden with bugs that ENTIRE PLANETS would lose their POI's, bases players spent hours and hours building only to log in one day and it's not there and there's no way to get it back. Also, Empyrion is convoluted at best to mod and 7DTD makes it a total joy to alter their vision to suit a preference or request. There are layers to happiness, Empyrion has fewer layers IMO.
A lot of content huh? hmm Not that much content for how long it's taking. You want to see a lot of content in a year look at No Man's Sky Next, and they are a indie company. The jump from Unity 5 (or 2017?) to Unity 2018 really doesn't require much converting, the biggest changes are graphics oriented such as shaders and a few editor gizmos changes. I'm playing No mans sky currently and while i'm enjoying Next its not that much new content.A lot of content huh? hmm Not that much content for how long it's taking. You want to see a lot of content in a year look at No Man's Sky Next, and they are a indie company.
An indie company that had all of their promotional and marketing support provided by one of the largest game company’s in the world. Frees up a bit of time and money when you don’t have to promote your own game.A lot of content huh? hmm Not that much content for how long it's taking. Still gonna disagree with the weak "you are wrong" strategy with no points listed to the contrary. Like I said I have played both games extensively and they are nothing alike. If you're breaking it down to "you gather stuff in both games and fight enemies" then fine, you win smhYou are wrong. They are similar in many ways.
Hold up cowboy, he was polite you got borderline aggressive.Still gonna disagree with the weak "you are wrong" strategy with no points listed to the contrary. I think you also forgot the great floods of alpha 10 in 7dtd, where towns would spawn inside lakes, you also have people who spend 10's of hours to get perfect bike parts only to merge/sink into a mountain while riding it and lose it to dirt. Then you had the hatch and xmas hat crashes of old which left servers unplayable for a few days. You have lost your mind. there is nothing similiar about this game.
