A16 - Gnamod

On the launcher currently you can find a Testversion of Gnamod Base and Gnamod Horde Mode. They are not stable and I will keep updating them as I see fit, but they are already mostly playable and will become the 1.0 version of Gnamod A16 when I think they are done, hopefully that will be soon. Then I will also finish Nomad Mode and Necropolis which largely depend on the Gnamod Base changes being done first.

These are however unstable versions, if you want to do more than just try them out and keep playing longer, then I suggest not letting the launcher update it, since I might shuffle stuff around and this means that stuff could break in older save games. The new versions also are not likely to be compatible with older Gnamod save games.

Good to read you are still hard at work. I am SOOO looking forward to getting my hands on a stable, finished version of Necropolis. From what I can imagine, it will be a brutal experience for a "dead is dead" player like myself. I think I'm about 1000 hours in this game on PC, after about 200 hours from XB1. I've probably spent 50 minutes TOTAL in the wasteland in all that time. :) So, playing Necropolis will be SOOO out of my comfort zone. Will be good for me...knock me down a few pegs. Cannot wait!!

Yeah I would love to finish it, I hope I can get something ready soon, Horde Mode is taking up a lot of my time currently, but Necropolis will also benefit from it, since the work on traders I am doing now will also be a part of that. The trader being something that is not easy to access but when you do find one it should be selling stuff the way Gnamod works and not only a fraction of it, and probably not to much food :D

No rush, I'm a firm believer in having something done right... and not worried about "right now." In the meantime, I'm still enjoying GNA Horde Mode mod. I have really learned a lot about building defenses in this mod... and it has gotten to the point where my bases in other mods are really too strong too early. No danger in those mods really... but still nerves in Horde mode as the sheer number of irradiated enemies keeps me focused on perfecting my funnel system -- leap towers, build. Just yesterday night, I found a flaw (uncovered section) that I could not get too, and the Zeds nearly took down an entire section (would not have been the end of me, as my redundant supports would have kept me alive). Cannot wait until to tonight to try to rebuild, make a bit of a correction, and try again (though, I think it will be night 7, so wonder if the blood moon will be worse or the same).

The blood moon will only be worse/same if you set it to 64 count, or at least 32 count, otherwise it will be very easy compared if its like 8 or 16.

But good to hear you enjoy Horde Mode as well, and yeah it pushes you to perfect your building and defending. I made it to day 13 before the literally tunneled all the way under my base :)

Last vid he was at Day 9, so I doubt he is that far ahead all of a sudden. I think he will play his next days in 1 go and not end off just before night. If you do that the horde will be much weaker, so he did not get the same horde strength other people are getting.

Tfw you are relieved that it's finally day 7, because you know that 'horde night' will actually be comparatively restful and calm....

Yeesh. Playing horde mode, survivalist, Dead is Dead... furthest I've gotten. Would be dead many times over if not for exploding crossbow bolts. They are the only thing that keeps me from just dying of lag, never mind actually getting killed by zombies. :p

Edit: Or not.... didn't survive night 6. Second wave was much worse than the first. Too many regenerators, just couldn't keep the damage level up, and they eventually overran my base. Got to the roof, but hadn't yet moved all my gear upstairs... including my extra med kits. Too many cop spits and explosions eventually just overwhelmed my ability to keep healing. Also big chunks of wall were just falling.

So. Many. Cops....

Also exploding bears. Because that's something I needed in my life.

Still into the idea of playing a game with others, if anyone wants to team up and try it on insane. :p

@dreamdancer... if you can set this up, I'd be up to trying. I just finished my night 6 on survivalist (I also play Dead is Dead), and just barely survived. But, I play 90 minute days, so I have enough time during the day to get a proper funnel base set up, and do enough repairs and additions before night fall. Also, fully admit I "cheated" by giving myself 100 jars of murky water through creative menu, because my seed has NO WATER ANYWHERE. I've searched the entire center area and 2 of the 4 edges, still no water at all. Nothing... cannot make glue without the murky water. Also, got lucky, my backpack in this world was a crossbow with 250 steel bolts... and something like 75 explody bolts. So, needless to say, I've survived mostly by funnelling Zeds and splody bolting them for bucks.

I might try night 7 tonight, got it on 32 alive, so I'm not sure I'll see much change.

What do you mean "exploding bears." Please don't tell me that is an actual thing!! I'm just getting used to Big Mama spitting at me and then exploding. I've trained to only look for cops... now I gotta be more vigilant to check each Zed to make sure I don't get blown up by a "normal" Zed.

Yeah, night 6 I got a glowing, undead, exploding bear. It was a big part of my defenses going down. But really just the overwhelm of dealing with dozens of cops, 1/2 of them radiated, just wore me down. Was using a double-layer, cellular, modified toothy design(all horizontal concrete poles) which gave me an open shot on everything all the time, and gave me great clusters to shoot... but also meant that everything was attacking walls, and they were all coming toward the center. And every now and again a cop would be able to spit through the walls at me. I tend to avoid things like pillar bases, finding them to be kinda cheaty. Haven't tried a funnel base as I tend to think of them as things that require a longer, more planned build...? Idk.

Thinking next playthrough of picking up some materials on the way to 0,0 and putting the beacon on top of a pillar of frames, with the plan to reinforce them after I put it down. Just to have my shop up above things. Might look into the idea of a funnel. Any images or videos of a simple funnel design?

Re: 'cheating'... You ported in dirty water, I added it to the shop. Lol. Along with femurs(because in a normal game I would be able to get them from corpses, but here there are so few), paper and plastic. The latter 2 for making shotgun ammo, but after doing some mental math it turns out that buying ammo is cheaper than buying the materials and making ammo from scratch, so that didn't really end up serving any purpose. Basically the only ammo worth making are explosives. Because one can never have too many explosives.

The seed GNA is great, btw. All open green at center, some roads and cars and such, and a small body of water just into the dead zone to the NW.

I could set it up, but my computer is a potato, so me hosting it isn't ideal. Feel free to add me on discord tho. #4349

I do not know how long people have lasted, I think Crackpot Texas got pretty far, not sure he continued his game though.

I think lasting beyond day 14 is already a good challenge in the current stable version, since it has no real curve of zombie progression. The new version has better lists at its disposal so I will be able to make it progress easier, giving people more time to actually build up some decent base.

Water and Femurs not being available is something that will also be fixed in that new version, small ponds will always be on the map so water can be collected, and the machine will sell all raw materials and intermediate materials as well when I complete the new selling lists.

Also there are exploding animals in there, they are currently not used in any version though, they were more for the first event we did but I had no time to actually add them to any list that would spawn them properly.

The new version comes with a complete entitity overhaul, lot of issues and oversights fixed, and some missing versions such as climbing fat zombies. The climbing cop is particularity nasty since he is hard to kill and can stand up to puke :)

Prices feel like they could use a tiny noodge in some direction, just due to the economics of bullets.

What I mean:

Low grade 12g shotgun shells cost $13.

Making a shotgun shell requires 2 nitrate, 2 coal, 2 paper, 1 iron, and 2 lead.

Nitrate, coal, paper and lead each cost $2. Iron costs 1.

So making a low grade shotgun shell costs $17.

I haven't done the full math on other rounds, besides normal(plastic) shotgun rounds(which are way worse due to plastic being very expensive), regular firearm bullets may ironically end up a better deal(normally shotgun rounds are the easiest to make, simply due to the proliferation of paper from looting, and the relative rarity of brass).

I feel back and forth about this. The process of making ammo is involved enough, and the number of different ingredients so high, that it feels like it should be a money saver, but on the other hand there is simply the convenience of it always being available, even on days the shop roulette isn't in your favor. Plus the fact that you can always mine boulders for mats(apart from brass, paper and plastic). Idk.

Other prices end up seeming about right, with concrete being -much- cheaper once you can make it, and steel running for $22 instead of $50. Iron bars are cheaper to buy than to make, and rebar frames are an interesting thing, in that they are the much better deal than any other sort of concrete works, but super limited in shapes.

I have been doing all prices, to adress this issue, so that crafting it yourself is cheaper if you invest the time. It will all be in the new version, I hope to retire the old version next week and release a 1.0 version of Gnamod and Horde Mode.

Nice! Looking forward to it. Just saw the preview videos with 'Like A Boss'. Beacons are now huge monstrosities, lol. And selling! Nifty.

Indeed Tin, Everything is better when stuff blows up regularly. That's why the beacon is so big, so it can have more exploding power!
