A New Chapter for The Fun Pimps and 7 Days to Die

I would say there is no current roadmap. As the published one is already over a year off target and features that were supposed to be next are already delayed.

The current roadmap is that 3.0 (formerly 2.7) is the next major update and the key feature for that update will be the sandbox options. The next update is 4.0(formerly 3.0) and will feature bandits as its primary addition to the game. Both Behaviour and TFP stated that these two updates will proceed as was planned before the merger. After 4.0 there will be more updates but Behaviour will have more involvement. According to the press releases, Rick and Joel will still have direct leadership over the project and more support and resources will be available to them from Behaviour. Behaviour claims they completely agree with TFP's direction for the game and don't plan to get in the way of that.

After 4.0, which is now bandits and was originally stated to be story implementation? Story hasn't been mentioned. If that's the 5.0 and 6.0+ mentioned, it would fulfill Kickstarter goals under only one condition. Not going to beat around the bush. If players are charged for that content, especially on an ongoing basis, there could be serious repercussions.

I've invested precisely $0 in the game. (A gaming buddy gifted me a copy way back when it first appeared on Steam.) I'm not particularly invested in how it turns out and have never expected much of a story, though I was curious as I thought the game had enormous potential. Paid DLCs are already a thing; paid DLCs are coming down the pipe and there is going to be speculation about this, no doubt a lot of speculation. If Behavior plans to charge for story installments in the form of DLC "expansions," I hope it's aware of the expectation of Kickstarter investors that the story, such as it might be, would be part and parcel of a completed game and most certainly not paid DLCs. Kickstarters may wish to inquire how TFP plans to handle the story implementation and they deserve an honest, forthright response. I think it would be in everyone's best interest to get that clear as crystal.

Will the story be incorporated as part of a completed game, as stated in the Kickstarter campaign, or will it be implemented as paid DLCs in an ongoing "live service" game?

Both Behaviour and TFP have stated that there will still be future free content. I believe that Kickstarter promises will be the free future content and I think Behaviour probably knew that would be the case before the merger. It’s hard for me to imagine them destroying that bridge.

On the other hand, be careful about invoking Kickstarter promises regarding the story. It was a pretty limited and uninspiring design that was pitched and that people pledged for.

I hope that their sights are set higher than the Kickstarter version. Finding notes randomly scattered around the world that slowly reveal the story of how the apocalypse happened is technically all TFP is obligated to do.

Most of the fan base at this point are non-Kickstarter participants and they’ve heard about “the promised story” and I wonder whether they think what was actually promised matches what they expect.

I doubt many, if any, expects anything more than is generally found in survival games, which have been immanently forgettable in the few I've played. (I'm not really in the target demographic for survival games for that among a number of other reasons.) Subnautica's was okay, but was revealed on PDAs, much like the notes to which you refer. If anyone expects Fallout: New Vegas levels of quests with dilemmas to solve and faction conflicts to resolve, etc. and so forth, then they probably have never played a survival game. I don't doubt there will be a lot of questions about 7DTD's, though, along with everything else.

It was stated in February that Bandits would be “this year”. I find it highly unlikely that the fun pimps will releases 2 major updates in 9 months when they can barely get one out in a year. It was also stated earlier that TFPs would be releasing a new official roadmap since they are so off target. When can we expect that now to actually happen?

As far as I know Bandits are still planned to be "this year". It would probably be smart to expect delays though. Faatal also recently stated that they hope to deliver major updates faster. We will see if they can do it. Remember that the 3.0 is simply 2.7 renamed because they are adding the sandbox overhaul which made it feel like a major release so they didn't want to call it 2.7. Bandits are coming in about the same timeline that they were planned to come after the Town Hall adjustments to appease those who were upset. All that has really changed is the numbering. Here's a comparison

What we don't know is how what used to be part of the old 3.0 and 4.0 will be divvied up and reorganized for future updates. We've only been told about 3.0 and 4.0 which are being worked on concurrently by different teams within the studio. In the AMA and press release they said more information would be coming for 5.0 and beyond.

This should be seen by everyone in the 7dtd community maybe that will shut people up.... who am I kidding

for you. The way your brain works. I feel zero pressure to swap. I feel zero pressure to wear a complete set and often wear a mixed set for most of the game based on what I find.

You are presenting the idea that the mechanic encourages armor swapping as a foregone conclusion for everybody (I guess assuming everybody thinks like you do). I assure you that I am not spending any mental energy holding myself back from swapping into a new armor piece for that extra boos before I do something. Most of the time I don't even think about what I'm wearing.

I'm not the only one which means that the massive temptation to swap armor pieces comes from within your own self rather than from the design. If it came from the design it would affect everyone.
The current system is like having a bag of golf clubs, but each club takes up a slot rather than 1 neatly stored separate container that's easily accessible.

When the Wardrobe System was teased I thought it might be something useful to alleviate this.

And there's nothing wrong with playing smarter not harder, in every sport or hobby allot of people strive to be the best they can be.

So if we divide their numbers by 10 then we would have the full game at version 1.0. Let's call the current version 0.25 and we are back to a more relevant system.

And will they continue to put the bolt on optimizing servers? :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

No I’m not I’m saying that their published public roadmap is so of target by both time and content that it can’t even be considered a roadmap anymore.
That's false.

They told you exactly what kind of content was coming, and they're following that.
A roadmap gives you an indication of what the "route" is. The timings are just rough estimates in this case.

Storms Brewing was intended to bring weather survival back with storms and it is exactly what they released.
Next there's "A new Threat" which will bring bandits, and they're working to release them next (along with the sandbox update).

So, the roadmap is still being followed. If anything, they're adding even more content in the mix while developing the roadmap stuff.

(side note: check you English please, your wording doesn't make it easy to understand what you mean)
