Well, they did try bandits at one point. Someone who was around back then will have to say which alpha that was in. Or possibly it was only in the internal testing versions. But they didn't work well and were removed pretty quickly from what I understand. So they decided to postpone them until they could improve the bandits to something worth having in the game and add in additional features and mechanics to make them work better in the game. They are ready to start implementing them and getting their AI working the way they feel is good, so they are at the point to where they are going to add them.Do you all remember the initial bandit announcement? A14 told us there would be bandits in A15, then there was a delay in A15, A16, A17, A18, A19, A20, A21, V1.0, and V2.0. So, a delay in V3.0 is perfectly normal.
Would that also be the bandits we're seeing in overhaul mods, perchance? If so, I don't blame them for taking them out until they had someone on staff who could implement them properly.Well, they did try bandits at one point... Now, I wasn't around at the time the bandits were initially being set up. After the point where they decided they weren't good enough and put them on hold, did they continue to say bandits would be in the next alpha? I know they weren't saying that as of A20 when I started to play the game. They only gave a version for bandits when the roadmap was released for 1.0 and that was to have bandits in 3.0. Even though they changed version numbers so that bandits are 4.0, 3.0 isn't even out yet, so based on the version they said, there was no expectation of having bandits anywhere between A20 and 3.0. Yes, the timeframe for updates was pushed back, and yes, they changed 2.7 to 3.0 and 3.0 to 4.0 (really dumb idea, imo), but the end result is that what was originally 3.0 is still bandits and still planned (I'm expecting a delay) to be done by the end of the year.
So all the complaints that they keep pushing bandits back when they weren't even saying that bandits would be released in any specific version before the announcement about 3.0 since at least A20 is kind of dumb. If they kept saying the next version and then said that it was pushed to the next version and so on, then that would be cause for complaining about being pushed back. When they just said they aren't coming yet and then eventually said 3.0, that's an entirely different thing.
Personally, I'm not even interested in bandits. I'll give them a try and see if they are worth having in the game, but I have a strong feeling that I'll end up disabling them either through a game option if there is one or else through a mod. I play this game for zombies, not bandits. If I want to fight bandits, there are plenty of other games that I'd prefer to play for that.
They were implemented in a16 then removed due to them not being happy with them.Correct. Bandits were at exactly one time presumably announced or even included in an alpha version. I think It was shortly before I started playing in A15 so if they ever were in a public version I just had missed them. But a friend of mine who started earlier than me with the game says they never were in an alpha, they could only be seen in mods.
After that there was never an announcement they would be in any coming version. Just some mention that they would be eventually in the game. If you saw some definite prediction of release then it most likely came from a streamer who interpreted too much into some noncomittal words.
Bandits were never implemented. They were in the game and could be spawned in debug mode, but were not part of an active spawning group. They also caused an error if you shot or melee’d them. They were implemented in a16 then removed due to them not being happy with them.
Imma have to go back and see..Bandits were never implemented. They were in the game and could be spawned in debug mode, but were not part of an active spawning group. They also caused an error if you shot or melee’d them.
Argh yes i remember now you are correct but we were still able to spawn them via console and i later did a mod to add them via a mod. But we are still in alpha and as one other said bandits are a kickstarter so they will be in the game..Bandits were never implemented. They were in the game and could be spawned in debug mode, but were not part of an active spawning group. They also caused an error if you shot or melee’d them.
The reason why they were called so, is because after release of A17 they began adding things players never asked for and removed a lot of nice stuff, players would have wanted to remain at that time! Who's at fault? easy, who does the development? there's the answerThe Sandbox Update is, in itself, proof the game has not been a scam. A scam would not have spent years, still developing, still adding POI's.
That's where it falls apart as an argument. I completely understand the frustration...but, it is misspoken. which allows the defenders room to nitpick. TFP have continued to work on the game...doesn't matter if "we" don't like what they did with it, therefore it was not a scam. sorry, but, that is true. The reason why they were called so, is because after release of A17 they began adding sh.t most players never asked for and removed a lot of nice stuff, most players would have wanted to remain at that time! But instead of admitting their mistakes, they chosed to blame and gaslight community in their town hall stream like its all the community's fault that they delay bandits again!
Mods basicly saved pc version of the game and helped us avoid horrible vanillaimo PC gamers really have no valid complaint about the current state of the game.
But console players sadly dont have access to mods which forces them to play same boring vanilla over and over againa console gamer, imo, has every right to put two and two together and add it up to: they re-launched the game to console prematurely, when they did, because it upped the value of their sale. To me it looks like they used us and hoped they'd be able to code fast enough to keep the backlash to a minimum.
lol...I agree with you, but, we both know that there will be people saying "most people don't play Modded content". I think that is a ridiculous statement. Do they mean that the people who walked away from the game do not engage with modded content? because THAT would make their statement their favorite kind of correct...technically correct...technically not lying.Mods basicly saved pc version of the game
IMO the vanilla game is not horrible. Yes, there a quality of life things that would be nice in vanilla, but, having never had them...I can live without...it just would be nice. The road map roll out has been horrible, but, that's a different convo. lol.and helped us avoid horrible vanilla
