That's right! We need more zombies. Not less zombies. TFP did advanced R&D to discover a new level, that I like to call Planet Terror, during alpha 21. I need TFP to discover an entirely new plane of insanity with 3.0.@faatal I would like to see a setting that controls the amount of zombie and animal spawns in the wild and in cities. I would like to see more zombies!
Did you know that someone recently discovered there's a HARD-CODED limit to spawns to 30 alive?@faatal I would like to see a setting that controls the amount of zombie and animal spawns in the wild and in cities. I would like to see more zombies!
As far as I remember from that discussion, it is not hard-coded, but specified in xml.Did you know that someone recently discovered there's a HARD-CODED limit to spawns to 30 alive?
This setting would be a great solution. Console players get optimization and everyone wins!Did you know that someone recently discovered there's a HARD-CODED limit to spawns to 30 alive?
They suspect they did it because of consoles... that would be lame if it was true.![]()
The 30 max zombies alive is on horde night. Even if you set to 64, only 30 will spawn.Did you know that someone recently discovered there's a HARD-CODED limit to spawns to 30 alive?

Learn by doing is definitely not coming back. They don't want anymore of that: "Craft hundreds of stones axes to level up faster" kind of things. The answer was by Madmole (Joel Huenink), from a long time ago.Skill progression suggestion and I apologize if it’s been proposed before. In the real world, researchers claim there are three types of learning: reading, listening, and doing. I think a great way for progression in the game would be to combine at least reading (read certain books/mags to open a skill level) with doing (kill 20 anything with bow to move up in that skill level). Once you move up, you must have read the next level book/mag to begin the “doing” progression to open the next level. The principal would be that you can’t just kill 100 zombies to become an expert. You must learn some lesson to progress - and you would learn from books/mags. In a game world, the listening option is essentially the same as a reading since you just click on an NPC and listen just as you click on a book and read. But you could add a listening requirement by making mastery level skills only available after the player visits a specific NPC. Player could complete some quest, then as reward have the NPC give them the secrete that opens the mastery level skill.

I thought this kind of discussion was more for "The Pimp Dreams" section and not a 2.x discussion...Skill progression suggestion and I apologize if it’s been proposed before. I have a feeling that people think they'll be able to post hundreds of questions and get answers from Rick and Joel; but that might not be the case.This. Anyone believing the Town Hall Meeting livestream will contain this level of backpedaling are sadly kidding themselves. The most content changes one can expect are alterations to storms/biome progression... maybe.
I say, good riddance to LBD and hope to never see it again. Also LBD has been discussed to death and TFP are never going back. Overhaul mods are your only option.

They're making the stream to talk about changes coming to the game, based on comments from players. It doesn't mean it's a: Ask your question to get an instant reply kind of thing.
My expectations: I think TFP will make changes based on things that people don't like in V2.1, the way TFP thinks is best and still in line with their vision of the game, and not because of one guy that makes constant videos about different ways of cheesing the game, said so.
Faatal already answered the Storms / Biome thing. It's here: https://community.thefunpimps.com/threads/v2-0-storms-brewing-dev-diary.42281/post-605274

I remember Madmole getting pretty upset one time about the LBD discussions. We miss you Joel, where are you? (probably working on that "still unannounced" new Unreal engine game)
Personally the alpha 16 way of learn by doing was much more refined than a13, a14 or a15s put together, I really liked it I like the current system but that refined version of LBD was pretty great.Personally I'm fine with the "use a shotgun to get better a shotgun" type of LBD, even though it'll never return in vanilla. But the spam crafting 10,000 stone axes I will happily leave in the dust.
It's not mistakes, it's called game development... Something that you know nothing about. Things get implemented, things get changes and fixed.I just hope the meeting isn't going to be them doubling down. I hope they admit their mistakes and go on the right SURVIVAL path.
So you should say thank you TFP for leaving the option in Steam to play early Alphas, including A16.Personally the alpha 16 way of learn by doing was much more refined than a13, a14 or a15s put together, I really liked it I like the current system but that refined version of LBD was pretty great.

Just relax and wait for TFP to make the stream first.
TFP knows what they want their game to be; if some people don't like what TFP does, maybe it's time for those people to move on.
Instead of pointing to some guy's video because I cannot express myself and give my own views, I will say this: I love V2.1 as it is now and I know that some changes are coming, all for the best.
NOTE to TFP: Make Biome Progression and Storms turned Off by default in Settings since some people still seem to forget that you can turn those Off if you don't like it so they might stop complaining about them. People can turn those settings On only if you want a more challenging game.
My game on steam just did an update, what does it do? Can't find any notes about that.
Also I was stupid enough to start a new playthrough with 2.1 and it is worse than I could imagine. No more open-world, no more survival. Storms are not even storms but just text overlays in game. Biome progression... no words for that.
And last, what's that town hall announcement? If they had listened to feedback in the past the game would not be so bad like it is nowadays. I have a few thousand hours played but gladly most were from A16 - A19 when the game was much more fun. Really sad, the game had so much potential but that is all gone forever.
I don't understand why there are so many fanboys here in this forum. If you ever loved the game you shouldn't support what has been going on for the last years. It's really bad. Don't you see how "you can turn this and that off if you don't like it" is not a valid argument for bad content?
