Really blown away with 3.0 !

I want to applaud the developers over 3.0.

I didn't expect much out of this update, but I'm amazed.

1) Performance. For quite a while, any time I started the game, my GPU would sound like a hair dryer. I had to turn the graphics quality down well below what it should have been, but it's not so big of a deal for a great game. Now...no struggling. I can have almost everything pegged out and things run just fine.
Kudos for doing this...you should brag about it!

2) Granular combinable stats on items. Awesome! This gives you reason to keep scavenging for stuff because it's not a simple task to max out the stats on your gear anymore! I'm not sure I've ever tried the baton, but when you find one with stars...oh boy, suddenly the good old club gets tossed! I'm sure it's been 10 versions since I've bothered with Iron tools, but here I am using an Iron Pickaxe that has worked its way into my heart through repeated upgrades including Stamina use reduction. Making the switch to Steel may be painful. :)

3) Trader settings. I have a love/hate relationship with Bloodmoons. I enjoy the horde, but not until I'm ready. I know there are many ways to approach it, but I want to gather enough material to build a fortress and only then take on the horde. My old strategy was to just hide in a tall building. This had some slight risk and gave you a little bit to do while waiting for the night to end. Still tedious though. I'd tried to just turn off BMs until I had what I wanted, but that broke immersion somehow.
Now I sit inside my local Traders' fort and wait out the moons. This sounds so cheesy, but I've already got the badge for surviving horde night over and over on Insane, and it's just not fun for my anymore ...until I have enough cement ;)

4) Balance. I'm not sure on all the specifics here, but I feel the game was fine-tuned. Drop rates at 25% loot feel like they were when the setting was broken and providing only a trickle of loot...which is a good thing.

Awesome job!

Hmmm....doesn't the bloodmoon horde pyramid over the trader wall pretty easily? Seems like tall building would continue to be the safer option. I get zombies inside the trader compound from time to time during the daytime just from 3-4 bunching together outside.

Even if they do, I think all of the inner houses are completely sealed; and at least you'll have 3-4 outside the wall, minimum.
Play it right and you can trap them in the church .. Don't Dead, Open Inside.

It's fun catching the jumpers! ;)
Place a hammer turret outside a door for more fun.

Vultures still be vulturin' ...and Mutants can be tricky.

you and me both! i never played with the metal tools unless i was made to take them but i did find myself "borrowing" the pickaxe a whole lot this last week because it had stats on it that made the disadvantages feel like a fair trade instead of simply discouraging

I fondly labeled 3.0 as WTF mode. Because with just a few choices, the longest I have
survived is 3 days. No exceedingly fast movers no bullet sponges, just TWD horde
volume regularly, all entities unplugged and headshot finisher for all. Vultures and dogs
and snakes oh my.

If BI is looking for a potential, next inroads for the game still, all they have to do is
decimate, micronize and set the world gen back to procedurally generated, removing
the overhead and beautification items, and have the random roll roulette world gen added.

Steamdeck, Nintendo switch, Wow I didn't know there was a PSP streamer for PS5, I still
have my working Jailbroken PSP 1000. What goes around comes around. My bad I digress.
ASUS ROG Ally X, Lenovo Legion Go, MSI Claw 8 AI+, AYANEO Series. They are thinking big
and missing a whole heap of the liliputian markets, by not thinking small. Just manipulating
the quick configs made me think of making the WTF game version.

I found games created under that term a long time ago and played them at lunch,
Work Time Fun games.
