Automatic Discord Login

Game is automatically logging me into Discord since last update and there is no option in audio to turn the **#(@! thing off. Was the option moved or removed?

Pushing Discord and Twitch integration onto people is as bad as the tech bros pushing their gd AI into everyone's business.

Default: Opt out, not in.
Suggestion: Move all integration settings to the main menu, defaulted to off.

Integration of third party apps in video games is utterly unnecessary and a highly questionable practice -- as questionable as a hospital network connecting a patient portal to Pixel so Facebook can remind chronically and terminally ill patients they're chronically and terminally ill at every opportunity via advertisements aimed at their specific conditions. Despicable. You know you're in the death throes of a civilization when people are actually profiting from our collective demise.

Privacy concerns have never been more prominent for obvious reasons. More people every day think it's highly resentable to mess with their online accounts without their permission and tech savvy people, especially, should know that it's not worth the "efficiency" and "convenience." ("Oh, but it's all in good, innocent fun, isn't it?" Puh-lease.)

Then again, TFP seems hellbound and determined to stir up resentment toward it at every turn. I'm at a loss why I should even care about whether or not the company does at this point. It's course obviously has been decided and it'll have to deal with the consequences of that decision. I don't know whether it's intentional or pure naivete at this point.

Unfortunately, it's not TFP anymore, they sold out to Behaviour Interactive, regardless of the BS spin they put on it.

Behaviour Interactive is notorious for this kind of crap, just look what they did to Dead by Daylight for one example(there are others)

The bottom line is they receive kickbacks from Discord and Epic (and likely others) to include and ENABLE BY DEFAULT their products in-game.

There ARE methods to disable ALL the BS integration completely but you will have to do the research - I can't share details here...

It's only gonna get worse.

I fully expect the much anticipated Bandits will be gated by paid DLC.

Also, it is likely they will somehow "break" xml and Harmony modding and/or lock it behind DLC also.

They are very greedy short term and DGAF if they ruin games in the process.

Suggest you backup 3.0 stable to a different drive that EOS has no access to NOW, this is by far the best version of the game to date, and it is likely to go downhill quickly with each new update...

Bandits are not going to be locked behind a DLC. That's an absurd thing to believe.

It's already opt in. You did get the question when discord integration was implemented and started the game. Why on earth did you choose yes to complain about it later on?

Thumbs down all you want, I'm not in a popularity contest, I tell it like it is.

Again, @Prisma501, are you incapable of grasping the concept that merely "Opting Out" as you so eloquently put it, has nothing to do with the fact that it still communicates with Discord REGARDLESS of whether you "Opt Out"?

Open your eyes people this is no longer developed by TFP...TFP took the money and RAN

I didn't choose 'yes'. That's the point. I've never played this or any other game set up like it online with other players and never will. I've never used Discord for voice chat and promote its open source alternatives. What slays me is that TFP was doing everything right on the business front until 1.0, but the predilection obviously always has been there and I can tell exactly who on this forum is in its thrall. It sunk itself in my opinion for the same reasons as every other video game (and other industry) company doing the same thing. Hell of it is: it "kills 'em with they love".

@ktrain: I'd also be surprised if bandits were paywalled. I rather expect it to get worse when TFP has fulfilled it Kickstarter goals. I'd expect paywalled content and the implementation of an in-game store somewhere around that timeframe.

You guys keep referring to Kickstarter as if it carries any legal weight or repercussions.

The fact is that a high percentage (around 40% at latest credible estimates) of Kickstarters fail to reach their original goals and/or turn out to be nothing but scams.

Before TFP sold out to BI, I also had faith that they would bring the Bandits to fruition. Now, with the Beachwear Armor DLC and the influx of blue haired devs from BI, I no longer believe in it.

The writing is on the wall, all you have to do is read it...

■■■■, ktrain trying to take up Hammer's mantle it seems. Look, if all your posts are gonna be negative and bashing people, you can just go away. If they made bandits DLC, they would literally get sued. Yes, they have delayed them multiple times. No, that doesn't mean they aren't coming, or they are gonna be DLC now. Trying to call this game a scam this far in is just idiotic. Don't be idiotic, there's enough of those around here as it is. 7 Days isn't The Day Before or whatever that game was called.

I imagine TFP considers its Kickstarter goals more like a promise to the community than a legal obligation and the fact is the company doesn't have to do much at all to fulfill them. It can place notes around the game world and call it a story that has to be pieced together on the players' end like most survival games do. It could throw the original bandits and their horrible AI back into the game and call it good, but hasn't done that and is working hard on those as we speak.

I'll give it that: TFP, the company, seems intent on keeping promises made before the acquisition. At the same time, according to Richard Huenink, the company sold out to BI because it "shares our goals" for the game's future and I think we all know what those goals are. The plan is to exploit players who love the game with their love for it. That's how Bethesda Softworks did it. That's how EA does it. That's how Ubisoft does it. They turn players' love for various games and franchises against them. Whether or not it's conscious is anyone's guess.

What are you even talking about? Discord integration happened BEFORE they sold out to BI. It was the same setup we have not, but the UI for the settings was different. Nothing besides the UI has changed for being able to disable it. Whether or not it should be disabled by default was a decision they made before BI and although BI has a say in that decision now doesn't make it BI's fault. And, to be clear, I don't support BI in any way and have stated previously that selling to them was a bad decision by TFP. But you can't blame BI for what TFP did beforehand. It would be like blaming BI for removing LBD.

As far as bandits, they won't be a DLC, though there may be DLC that focus on the bandits (cosmetics, etc.). Even if you don't believe the news release that stated that BI will not be making changes to the game until after bandits, it would be stupid to put them in a paid DLC. It's been a long-promised thing that failure to add to the base game would create such a negative morale among players that the game would take a nosedive worse than 2.0. And they know it. Besides, they've already leaked bandits with AI that wasn't previously available with the bandits that were "hidden" and that mods have made usable in the past. It's clearly been worked on and there's no reason to think it won't be added or that it would require a paid DLC to get. That being said, I have no interest in bandits and wouldn't care either way. I just hope they can be disabled.

My posts are negative? If helping poeple is negative then ya got me...unless you're referring to my belief that Bandits will be DLC. That would be negative. But all my posts? Have another look...

Sued by whom? People who paid $5 for an early release and got way more enjoyment out of it than most people get from AAA $60 titles? Good luck winning that lawsuit!

Never did i call this game a scam. I got more than my money's worth. The problem is I love the game and don't want to see it go the same route far too many games in the last ten years have gone.

Personally IDGAF about Bandits, sCore and NPCCore are more than good enough for me, Bandits are just one feature that happens to be the focus od many discussions right now.

Discord was available for use prior to BI. It was NOT loaded automatically NOR did it communicate automatically in the background without user consent REGARDLESS of whether it was enabled or not as it does now.
