It's not an extreme either/or situation. Others are just as organized, maybe even more so, but don't want to waste their time pulling out materials manually for crafting in a video game. I'd think it's even most considering most games have crafting from containers at this point. As someone pointed out, it could be made an option. Just give players the ability to toggle the "mod" on or off. Manual interaction just isn't necessary for everything despite that some obviiously think tactile interaction is the only tangible kind of interaction video games can provide despite stories, for example, touching people hearts and even causing people to question things they probably wouldn't normally question because the question is raised in the video game.As 8_Hussars said, it isn't that hard if you organize well. For example, next to my cement mixer(s), I have a box for stone, cement, and sand. If I need to use the cement mixer, everything I need is in the crate right next to it. For my workbench, I have a crate that is for most of the general resources (cloth, glue, duct tape, springs, leather, plastic, etc.) and that covers a lot of what I need for crafting at the workbench. I also have a crate with ammo crafting resources for if I want to craft ammo. Those are all in one box, making it easy to grab what I need to craft ammo without going anywhere else. Next to my chem station is a box for stuff to make gas (the only thing I use the chem station for in most games) as well as sham sandwiches in the rare case that I want to make antibiotics. Next to my campfires are 3 crates - raw food, drinks, and cooked food. That makes it easy to grab what I need to cook food or to make drinks and also a place to put stuff I have cooked. Next to the forge are boxes for iron, clay, brass, and lead. If I do need to put sand in the forge, I might need to go to the box next to the cement mixer, but I rarely need sand in the forge, so that's not really an issue.
In short, although I may occasionally have to go to a more distance crate for certain things that might need something extra (maybe needing forged iron or steel at the workbench, which may not be next to the forge), the vast majority of what I need is right there. It's very easy to grab everything I need in a few seconds for most situations.
Could I just put a ton of dump crates and let craft from containers do all the work for me and I don't have to manage inventory at all? Sure. But even with craft from containers, I'd still want my stuff to be organized so I can find stuff. And if it's organized, crafting from containers isn't going to save me very much time since I can easily grab everything I need in a very short amount of time. Yes, it saves time. Just not enough to matter to me.
But, as I said, I don't have a problem with it being added either. I've played games with it, and it's handy. Of course, I still organize stuff in those games.
All the judgement about how others choose to play on this thread sounds like a kindergarten playground episode of "my Dad is better than your Dad" or, more to the point, "my way is better than your way". God knows there's enough of that going around when it comes to actual ways of life itself on this planet.
