V2.6 Stable

"Simple stupid", but you need 24 lines to explain it?? And even forgot to explain how this would solve which problem exactly? ;)
More simply put.

Realism vs immersion vs TFP spending years trying to figure out how to give water a use that
different playstyles could accept.

There are two major types of water, <block name="waterMoving"> and <block name="terrWaterPOI">,
if it were they alone, it would be easier to seperate what each water source is used for. To fit
in to the Realismish arguements, and the Immersivism arguement. <block name="water"> depending on
where it is retrieved from and where it is stored. Everything else is just ways to manipulate it.

K.I.S.S.
The K.I.S.S. Solution would be to have a jar of water simply be an abstracted unit of water in our inventory just like every other consumable resource in the game.

We can kiss K.I.S.S. goodbye… 🤣
I agree, if it had been left as is from the beginning, then the snowball would have been a lot more manageable.

One statistically insignificant sample:

In my co-op game with a friend of mine we played ~5 hours with the new patch. We had planted 4 dew collectors previously and I was in the process of setting up more because I needed glue to craft a robotic sledge. Needless to say, we ignored the collectors completely and filled the bottles directly from a water canal 20meters from our base.

When we made our base, long before it was know this change would come, we didn't check for water to be near. But it was, really close.
I was one of the early proponents of Dew Collectors requiring jars. And for the sake of immersion, I still like it. However, I perfectly see the argument of why they are next to useless now aside from convenience (especially if you're far away from any other source).

To try and balance, I've modded the collectors so that they collect boiled water instead of murky. If there is a filter installed, it collects pure mineral water. The nice thing is now I have to make a choice between having a superior drink or stick with regular water since that is needed for other recipes. Obviously I have multiple to accomplish both. My next step is figuring out how to make the filter degrade over time and having to replace it. I know Hells Janitor does that in his 28 Alphas Later mod and I think it would be a good way to balance it.

This obviously isn't a perfect solution, but I think it plays better than what vanilla has now and makes the collectors viable while still maintaining the jar requirement.
