V2.5+ Survival Revival Dev Diary

They should switch their versioning to letters or even better a code word. Instead of 3.0 just call it "Sandbox Update". The bandit update can be called "Threat Update". They bucked industry norms a little bit which caused confusion. They should just go whole hog and abandon numbers.
People are tense. We're living in tense times. There's a lot going on in the world.

When speaking about the time when the Beatles were breaking up, when things were getting very tense between them, John Lennon explained how things were like by saying: “it’s because you got the tambourine wrong that my life’s a misery.”

TFP's naming / numbering convention is some people's tambourine. A lot of people find all sorts of tambourines in this game.

However, the less people know, the better. Version numbers should be buried like they are in games like COD. There is a long string of numbers you can see on the screen, but the font is small and you gotta go out of your way to see it. And they never title their updates with those numbers.

Updates should be titled "Minor Update" or "Bug Fixes". And when it's something big then give it a name like "Storm's Brewing", etc.

So V2.6 (b10) should read on the thumbnail or wherever:
Minor Update
Changelog 2.6.10

And then you can have things like...

Get Some Sand in Your Box
Changelog 3.0.192

■■■■■in' Bandits
Changelog 4.0.251

Boom! Problem solved. And I'm giving it away for free.
You're welcome.

While I won't say never, 3.0 and 4.0 should not break saves.

I found one performance issue this week from a change in 2.5 that will be fixed in 2.6 stable. I am looking for more optimizations.
does that mean 3.0 Bandits and 4.0 Story...or 3.0 sandbox and whatever 4.0 is now going to be?

isn't 4.0 already named "The Road Ahead"?

I love how you cropped out the answer to your own question.

People called it 4.0 because it was assumed that each of the updates would be a jump in version, but you've already been told this would no longer be the case.

You're being voluntarily obtuse. It's obviously the new 3.0 and 4.0, not the old assumed ones.

Are we so weak as men that we must suffer trauma over superfluous decisions in game development? 🧐
This is coming from a man who left numerous comments on my videos genuinely crying that I said "Oh my god" because I apparently wouldn't insult islam like that btw.

Just some valuable context about weak men suffering trauma over common phrases being used in youtube videos.

Your memory is poor maybe due to years having passed, or deliberately incomplete maybe to make your "context" sound better. Either of which makes your context invalid.
Whichever. Dismissed.
I could remind you, but is this the place for it? You seem selectively combative with some for unknown reasons.
If it salves your ego, go ahead and have the last word. Make it good.

Nice try at gaslighting Laran but you actually left this comment on VRStuz's channel and he didn't ban you like I did so we can come back with receipts. You've changed your profile picture and name. But we at IzPrebuilt corporation like to plan for such eventualities:1772410497064.png

Don't try and gaslight us to make it seem like you didn't do that lmao. You are JUST as weak as the rest of us complaining about inane things that don't matter.

For those curious I distinctly remember this even all these years later because Laran was pretty much the first internet lunatic I had to deal with.

Is it? ask him what HE meant yourself. To me it read like he was referring to the "old" 3.0 and 4.0

So while you consider my post to be deliberately obtuse, I am pointing out that "we" don't know...and there's no need for it. The v3.0 sandbox obviously won't require a new game...it is a separate game mode...and unless he was referring to the "old" 4.0 "we" would have no clue what he was talking about. IMO There's no need for any confusion.
I will admit I am a little salty because "they" are also saying it will take another 22 months to get to 8.0 - 10.0...whatever the ■■■■ that means now.
It's taken 20 months to get to here.

For us? No.
For software developpers? Hell yes!
Without decent well structured version numbering complicated projects are turned into a hot mess.

(And the rest of your post was too weird to be taken serious)
Is it possible plans have changed?
Have not the updates been merged, redefined, and some pushed back?
So we've been told.
And... the numbering changes. (shrug)

when the original road map came out along side 1.0 and it said bandits would be in 3.0....
My initial thought on that was bandits would take years to be ready.
Now currently, as years is approaching and the heat has been turned up for tfp to deliver bandits,
It doesn't surprise me the roadmap changes, to the new sandbox features as they need something to fill in the timeline untill bandits get ready.

So you're not being deliberately obtuse? Oh...
I don't even think I am really being impatient....about this part. lol
Joel said two months ago that they were going to update the roadmap...a month ago (roughly) faatal said that they are abandoning the "old" name/numbering system. Is it really asking too much for them to put that info out NOW?

well...according to TFP they say bandits are going to be in the game this year (or is that 3.0 will be in the game this year?)...I already got ■■■■ on for saying I just don't believe it will happen...so I guess me and you are fools for having any doubts...eh?

My guess is that they're still deciding on this, or else, they would post a new roadmap if one was ready to be shared. Even a new roadmap couldn't be expected to be followed since things happen and then you get some stuff delayed... All part of game development.

Also, you can't expect something posted by one of the Fun Pimps' team to be accurate since it's probably an idea, but when they get into a meeting, maybe Madmole mentions that said idea and it gets downvoted or pushed back by other members of the team. Things change every time. It's not like there's one King and everybody has to follow orders.

RWG is mostly flawless at this stage (seriously, some great work has been put into it over the years <3), but one consistent issue remains: wilderness POI's spawning adjacent to roads and the POI boundaries creating an ugly square raised section, sometimes making the road untraversable. I hope this will be looked at in the future. :) Keep up the amazing work!
