How far have you gone this playthrough?

In keeping with this thread, and an inside joke...

Day 1...

This playthrough is an attempt to try my luck at reaching level 300 again, without dying, and without the whopping XP bonus I have been playing with for 2 years now. My partner has also agreed, no more XP bonuses for either of us and our games.

Good luck.

By the way, why don't you rent a game server and play on it?

Level 2, 15 kills, doing 1st real quest: Sparks Place. Pre-clear done, had to change things up quite a bit. Put points into both siphoning strikes and healing, as I know I will be weak for far longer. Time flies, and it's already 1435hrs.

I had to stop, or I would have played right through the whole first day.

Under Strength, 1 point each into miner and mother load perks.
Under Fortitude, 1 point each under siphoning strikes and healing perks.
Under General tab, 1 point into living off the land perk.

Any advice for what to invest in next/night one?

good question.

The unfortunate answer is, due to vision and health problems, I am on V2.4, and he is on V2.5.

My partner and I always meet up in a discord voice channel, and both of us stream/share screen, and that seems to have become an issue sometime after v2.0 came out, as we could always do that, from within either of our games, but not now.

There's VirtualBox where you can install an older version of Windows. I prefer VMware, but it's not free.
Yeah, I have Vmware Workstation Pro 17. Its really cool to do all kinds of things. One of which is running DosBox or Winuae and saving the state of the virtual machine, when games that I like (RPG) have limited save options. Yeah it a bit cheating I guess. I have Virtual Pool 3 running on a Windows 7 32bit VM, that I have saved the state in the games main screen. So when I want to play, I restore a save state and I am right in the main game screen, it's too cool to be able to this!

I have a boatload of VMs, from Windows XP to Windows 10 and one Linux VM as well. Mac emulation software is not as good as most other emulators, so I have a couple VMs running Sheepshaver, Mini vMac and Basilisk on windows 10 that are all set up and ready to go.

I heard that VMware Workstation is subscription now, so I will just keep version 17 pro seeing how I can do most things I need to in my VMs.

I could not say. It depends on the way you play. I agree though that when starting up a new game it's really difficult to choose perks. There are a lot really important perks at the start of a new game. So I guess you can say: "choose your perks wizely".

Remember, if you invest in a certain perk, you will have more of a chance to find magazines that relate to that perk. Other than that I don't know.

I am kind of torn between the old system of crafting that depends on the perks you choose and the new magazine based crafting. I think I prefer the perk system. I always maxed out intelect perks at the start of a new game prior to magazine based crafting skills, so I could get a mini bike as soon as possible.

Just finished Bloodmoon 31 - and I will be repairing my base for 24 hours game time probably.
Day 218
Level 276
23227 Kills

It may be cool having a massive base, but repairing is a pain.

Making good progress. Keep it up.

What you you think of a notional LCB, which, when upgraded, had resource storage and a "Repair All" button, allowing all damage to be repaired, everywhere in a single Land claim, with just the touch of a single button?

Resource costs would be the same, but a players time could be far better spent, making one repair, than trying to manually hunt down and make repairs one block at a time.

I hate repairing my base at least most of the time, but I consider it to be a necessary part of the game. It would be really good for new players, so they do not get bored repairing things for hours (game time). How to implement it would be interesting as well, like your upgrade and resource slots. Maybe you could have the option to repair only if you have the right amount of resources on you or something.

My base is so big I need 4 LCBs to cover it, so I would be happy to have a larger radius or more than 3 LCBs.

One of you should check out Just Rob's "Perfect Start"...

Under Fortitude, 1 point each under siphoning strikes and healing perks.
I am a little surprised these were choices. Early game stamina management (running away) can be critical. Rule #1 Cardio helps with that, where as +2 HP on a siphoning Strikes kill is unnoticeable. Further, Healing Factor uses food to replenish HP. Since early game food supply can be an issue, its maybe not a good choice until food supply is managed. Try to get hit less, instead of heal faster when getting hit.

Contrary Opinion. One key component of this game is time management and decision making. Should I do this or do that? What are pros/cons of this approach vs that approach. Being "ready" for the horde is one of the key points. NGL, no player remembers the horde night where everything went perfect and they were never at risk. They remember (and have more fun) when they missed a block repair or upgrade and something failed; and they had to improvise.

IMHO, the repair block just makes everything easier and robs players of the potential excitement of the unexpected.

I was envisioning the resources needed for (repairs only), being placed displayed within the notional LCB, and when the amount needed are placed within it, the repair all button would become clickable, and all repairs within that given land claim, would take place and be deducted from the total stored within the block.

I have no idea how to make this happen, but as far as a quality of life improvement, this one would be at the top of my list.

I have 25, so you can definitely have more than the (3-5) allowed in game, just have to edit the right two places.

Just so we are clear, that is 25 LCB that don't cancel out. I'll post the link after I catch my breath.

Edit:
Here is the thread I got the help I needed to have all the LCB I could ever want. Hope it helps.

Just follow that link, and the post right after mine is golden.

Day 2, 0742 hrs.
Level 6.
44 kills.
2/10 quest progression.

I have to say, I'm liking this. It is much harder to get my levels/loot, when I turn off the loot and xp bonuses. It's like this is a whole new game.

Under Strength, 2 points each into miner and mother load perks. Lvl 2 st.
Under Fortitude, 1 point each under siphoning strikes and healing perks.
Under General tab, 1 point each into living off the land & Mater Chef perks.

I'm gunning for better tools, and we will see what happens.

Overwatch day 2.jpg
I leave the LDB radius active because of my eyesight.

Day 8, 0503 hrs.
lvl 30, 488 kills.

I have to say, it is much harder/more of a challenge fighting at the normal loot and xp settings.

Did you get it working? Can we get a screenshot, showing your base?
I do not know if you are asking me, but I did upload my base on this thread:

BTW, I am moonlighting a bit with a cool game from back in the mid 2000s. Condemned: Criminal Origins. Taking a break from grinding for solar things and its Day 224 and Bloodmoon 32 is about 8 hours in game from now. I just got finished spending about 4 hours game time repairing the top part of my base and I did not notice the RED Day 224 until about 1:00 PM or something. Good thing I have already crafted my ammo ahead of time anyway.

Well I guess uploading my base just killed this thread. I am fairly good in level editors and 3D graphics, and this is about the same. Not a big deal.

About to start one, but I have yet to make a blood moon :), in 4 tries. But I play dead is dead.

I do 90mins 24hr.
I play dead is dead in 60min days and managed to make it through the first horde night by sheer luck. I took over a POI and I thought I had made a good obvious path. The zeds had other ideas and chewed through the opposite end of the POI I took over because I left a single block unfortified. I barely survived by the skin of my teeth. weapons all broken or out of ammo and no where to hide at 3:50am. I danced on that roof like a cat with my spear until dawn finally broke. Those were some really tense 10min.

Day 8 now in the burnt forest. trying to play all default setting to see how the game feels after modding it for so long.
