V2.5 Survival Revival Dev Diary

Possibly a dumb question, but have vehicle headlights been removed in 2.5?

I'm only up to the minibike on my 2.6 playthrough, but pressing "F" doesn't turn on the headlight on that vehicle, and there isn't a different key binding for vehicle headlights.

Am I just missing something basic? If not, is this removed for all vehicles or just the minibike? Or is it a bug?
Did you make and install a headlight mod on the vehicle?

Don't think the new minibike has a headlight by default, does it? Only if you add the headlight mod.

You didn't need this in earlier versions - F would turn the headlight on even on a basic minibike with no mods. It doesn't seem to in 2.5 now though, you need a helmet light mod for it to work
The old minibike had a light by default. The new one doesn't.

The minibike lost it yet it has a light and a battry

I wish they'd remove the shadows over the headlight on the motorcycle when you install the armor mod.
I mean, I'd leave a hole for my headlight if I made armor because light doesn't shine through metal.

I know it can change, but I recall Madmole saying in the forums that they had some stuff planned for 2.8.
Yeah, he mentioned more settings in 2.8, though I assumed that was just a random version number he tossed out to mean "in the future". But my response was in regards to starting a 3.0 dev diary thread. That doesn't normally happen until the final planned minor version is stable. That might be 2.6, 2.7, 2.8, or even higher.

The headlight was removed from the minibike when they redid the vehicle skins. You now need to install one. The motorcycle still has a headlight by default, and I think the 4x4 does as well, though I normally install a headlight in that as soon as it's built, so can't say for certain.

@faatal
Greetings. I'd like to express my sincere gratitude for all the work you've been doing here. Bugs, imbalances, and other minor issues happen in absolutely every project—I've noticed that these are being fixed and balanced over time, and that's encouraging. In any case, we're waiting for 2.6 to see what new features have been "brought into the game." And yes, unfortunately, I still haven't found a complete list of what's coming in this update. I'll probably study it after it's released.

If I remember the roadmap correctly, you plan to add a full-fledged storyline for quests in some future XX version. I'd like to clarify: Will you be adding dialogue mechanics with NPCs?

A lot of people are currently trying to create their own quest chains to add variety to the game. But all of these chains are based on starting the next quest by using a new item, and receiving those items as a reward upon completing the previous one. A huge drawback of this solution is that the player can receive two rewards and there's no way to lock in the choice. Ultimately, creating any chain with a variety of choices is nearly impossible. There are casters and complex traversal schemes, but all of this ruins the game's simplicity.

How difficult is it to add such a mechanic to the game, and are such interactions with NPCs even planned?
I don't know details about future quests as that is not a part of the game I work on. There will be more quest types and we have talked about other types of quest givers, but that is all I have for you.

Version numbers are changing. There will be less .x versions and more x.0 versions.

Was kinda dumb to just remove the headlight from the minibike. Doesn't really server a purpose to do so imo.

The bucket is still in the game so... I don't know what your complain is about. Just a few forged iron and you make it in the workbench.
The dew collector is your water storage. Make a few dew collectors and you have a constant water source; add the mods to it and you'll have too much water in no time.
There's no such thing as too much water. I have 20 dew collectors, but I rarely stop collecting it.

Although... I have more than enough for cooking and drinking.

Right! I forgot that you can make a bucket in your inventory... Even if someone thinks it's not even in the game anymore. 😁
There is a search, it shows not only those things that can be made on the current workstation, but in general all manufactured ones.
