PC V2.0 Storms Brewing Dev Diary

I only was ironical about all the discussion. Of course there is no thread war on forum. I was just following rather emotional exchange of thoughts in the threads.

Will this include zombies not just going for just the bottom blocks on walls now, too? If players have to work harder to get through a wall, zombies should, too.
Destroy area is not the same as pathing. Destroy already prefers higher blocks and still does, but the rules are somewhat different now.

For every thousand of people who thinks your way, there's a million who thinks the opposite, so in the end, you lose.
Haven't you ever heard of the sIlent majority?
Well I'm sure we'll see when the upcoming update comes out won't we? If the millions and millions think opposite to me they'll see those features that the recent critics of 7dtd have been asking for and they'll silently slink away in disgust leaving 7dtd's player count worse than Blood Moons on a tuesday morning.

Edit. Oh and speaking of Blood Moons, if there were millions of people who absolutely adore TFP and their decisions, how come blood moons can't scrape 100 players on a weekend? You'd think with MILLIONS of happy customers there'd be some more "goodwill" towards that project.

I'd imagine most people don't even know it exists. They didn't exactly market it well from what I've seen, which is probably for the best as it didn't seem ready even for EA.

That said, they are completely different games, so just assuming people who are fans of 7 Days would automatically buy/enjoy Blood Moons is a bit silly. I love 7 Days but have about zero interest in Blood Moons.

I wouldn't say that. Perhaps I just voiced my concerns in the wrong way. I like the change. I just can see how this isn't going to please a lot of the people asking for jars to be re-added as they were.
It's good that they are going back and readding things. I just think the CONSUMPTION of jars isn't the right choice. The water should be the issue not the amount of jars you have

This is absolutely true but...

My point is that surely if there were millions of people who thought OPPOSITE to me, there would SURELY be a huge line of people just dying to try it. Of course I don't think every fan of 7dtd would auto buy it but like...nobody bought it. Particularly, from the thousands of comments I've recieved around Blood Moons specifically, the hardcore 1000 hours+ fanbase. Who should surely be just looking for ways to support a beloved franchise/publisher?

This thread isn't about blood moons anyway but I do think it's a fair reading of the temperature? of the community's attitude at the moment.

Edit: and it's a shame because iLLOGIKA seem like such a good studio

I'm a long time player and fan of 7D2D and I don't see the point in buying Blood Moons honestly.
I already have all I need inside 7D2D and no amount of fancy effects and colors will make me buy it.

Also, I'd like to point out that most players ARE casual (the silent majority) and we are the niche, believe it or not.
Even when we become vocal, we determine but a tiny part of the 7D2D market and direction.
Casual players don't care much about ANY game one way or the other, they just play and if they like it, they keep playing, if not they just move on.

On top of that, if we wanted to be cynical, we've already bought the game... so WE, have lost most of our leverage already. ;)

As I said, they are completely different games, so there's not a lot of correlation here. I love 7 Days, I bought the dlc skins without hesitation to support TFP, but I'm not buying a game I know I will not enjoy or play. And I'm sure I'm not alone. Thinking just because people have thousands of hours in 7 Days that they will just buy Blood Moons out of principle is a silly notion.

Roland I know it's stupid to expect you to watch my content but you could at least glance at the channel to see if I *have* made that choice.

The red marked out videos don't really pertain to criticism or opinion in anyway so ignore them. The green videos are ones where I either am positive about 7 days to die or discuss with relative maturity my issues with 7dtd. The bloodmoons video is a mixed bag it's pretty critical but in that I even say "I want to see this game succeed but only if it deserves it" and there's certainly no instances of me insulting the Illogika devs.

Just got back from Wicked and have some other family things to do but I'll view a few of these sometime during the next few days. If your negativity is lessening then that is good news. I don't expect you to glaze them but glad to hear you are attempting to not cast every decision you disagree with as being due to laziness, incompetence, stupidity, and/or adversarial against their players. There ARE other explanations for the various design decisions that they have made that you would have gone a different way with.

The majority of people enjoy the game the way TFP is making it and don't spend time on social network to complain because they like the game the way is. They play the game instead of spending all that time ■■■■■ing about it on social networks. In real life, you're either a user (meaning, play the game) or a loser (for the constant complaining, like if never happy about anything).

The negative people remind me of the people who believes the Earth is flat (or other conspiracy theories) for example. It's tiny minuscule groups of people assembled together on a social network or something, who think the same way and figure that everyone else feels the same as their tiny group... Pathetic! And some of those people cannot even come up with their own views on things and just goes: "Oh yeah! Like he said".

The silent majority play the game and enjoy themselves. Miserable people complain instead of playing and it seems like they will never be happy with whatever The Fun Pimps decides to do now and in the future.

For 11 years that I've been playing, I've been confident in TFP to make the best decisions in the game they are creating. It's up to me to decide if I want to continue playing or not... And I've never stopped playing so far and play almost every day.

Okay so I've read Roland's run down on how the new jars are working where they disappear after you eat them and I can already tell you that the people you are appealing to with that change probably aren't going to be happy with that half measure. If the fun pimps are so dedicated to not cluttering the player inventory with those jars why do you they not just cut out jars entirely and just give us a way to collect water from a river without the jars?

I know the community has asked for jars but wouldn't just pressing E on a river to get a murky water in your inventory ultimately solve both the community's concerns and the devs concerns. The devs say they want water to be abstracted so there's no messing with jars. The community wants the immersion of being able to collect water from an obvious viable water source.

The key problem with that is that without jars we would have essentially infinite water (which is a problem of the setting, post-zombie arizona covered in natural rivers isn't a water scarcity setting despite Joel's insistence that it somehow would and should be on reddit)

Personally I think they should go full jars or just go full no-jars and accept that the setting just doesn't make water hard to obtain. (Or they could provide reasons the rivers are not viable for water. Waterborne infection being the obvious one)

That said, I do think that adding jars as they are said to be in 2.5 is still a vast improvement over what we have in 2.4 but I fear it's just kicking the empty can (removed A21 RIP) down the road and we're gonna be having the "Can my character stop recreating old internet videos with their jars every time they drink water?" in 6 months.
just chucking it out there
what about a new item - panties
we can take panties and dunk them in rivers or whatever water source and then when we want water we can twist them...

tbh i couldnt care less where this game is going. i am enjoying the ride

"the silent majority"? I thought unsubstantiated numbers were a no-no.
At best I would concede this conversation is happening between the two extremes. The middle or "silent majority" seem to have already moved on. Roughly, at it's peak, maybe a million people were playing when 2.0 got launched, right now "we" are back in the trough in between Alpha launches. One million out of 20 million, who bought it, is only 5% of the people who own the game. So, overwhelmingly, the "silent majority", by my reckoning, are not playing at all.

Be nice to see revised numbers for the game.
It has been sitting at 20 million copies sold since before the relaunch to consoles.
The PC numbers wouldn't change much, as you guys didn't have to buy a second game to "get back in", but it would be nice to see how many copies sold on the platforms. Be nice to see the daily player data for console. I doubt we will get those numbers....just be nice to see them like Steam data base publishes PC data.

I mean yes there's always going to be the beyond mad for no reason but tbh I though prebuild is one of them but he really isn't? If he really hated the game i dont think we would have learned to mod and try to make improvements.

And I've been playing for a long time as well and while I disagree with some directions of the game i still play it every day its the only game I play on Xbox. And pc I'll do the same
