V2.3 Stable

I just wish they removed the spawn close to your body! That would add so much risk and danger. Yes you dont have too but if you give people the opinion they will do it

I'm honestly still ■■■■ed at TFP for adding the spawn near backpack option. That's the point where I knew they were really starting to pander to the casual side of the playerbase. I mean hey, it's their game, they can pander to whoever they want. But that doesn't mean I have to like it. 😜

Anyway, I use a mod by Byteblazar that disables respawning near backpacks. So if I want my stuff back, gotta do it the HARD way! 😄

Or just.. y'know.. don't click that option?

The first rule of game theory is that a player will always choose the path of least resistance if given the option. As a player, it's annoying to be presented with an option that I SHOULD take given that it's the more efficient & easier way to play, but choose not to for that same reason.

In other words, having an "easy mode" button staring at me on the respawn window just ■■■■es me off every time I see it. So that's why I use a mod to get rid of it. Because getting rid of it improves the game experience for me.

I could swear there was an option to shut it off. Maybe I'm misremembering

Spawn near backpack was added sometime around A19 or A20 iirc. There was never an option menu toggle to disable it.

From what I've read, for awhile it could be disabled via an undocumented console command, but TFP later got rid of that because people were using it to enjoy the game. Anyway, by the time *I* learned about the hidden command, it had already been removed. I stopped playing for awhile at that point.

Byteblazar's mod is actually what got me interested in the game again.

Yesterday I played 2.3 for the first time.
I saw something strange. In the winter biome I was attacked by a snake. Where did the snake come from in the snow?

Just wanted to mention that I'm really enjoying the v2.3 update.

Yesterday I died in the burnt forest about 2.5 km away from my bedroll. So I respawned and did a naked corpse run without any biome gear. 😄

It was a lot of fun, ducking into buildings to catch my breath, avoiding ferals, and sometimes sprinting like crazy while the biome timer was running out. 2.5 km is a LONG hike without biome gear!

Eventually made it back to my backpack and minibike, reequipped my gear, and returned to camp right as a storm was starting.

Gotta say...it's been a long time since I had so much fun in 7DTD doing something as mundane as a corpse run.
I would probably leave the backpack lying around where it was. If there is a long distance from the place of death to the sleeping bag, then I usually don't go back for the backpack.

It's easier for me to control myself than to install mods.

I have also often wondered whose idea it was to implement that?
The option to spawn near a backpack was certainly not the most wise decision and should have never been permitted when the PvP, kill others, setting is enabled.
In PvP scenarios when a player eliminates another player and the victim respawns within the render distance of the assailant, it creates an unfavorable situation,
generally leading to the victim being spawned camped.

But if it is dangerous to spawn near your backpack then you simply choose one of the other spawn options....

Good afternoon, the custom prefabs used in 2.2 are incompatible with 2.3. When performing missions with the trades in those places, they bug.
You will have to wait for the person(s) to update it to be compatible with 2.3
You can check the progress of the mods in the Game Modification section.

Somebody reported that to me in an equally vague manner about my Mod. The interface between POIs and missions is really simple: Tags and a maybe a couple of blocks. There's no advanced configuration, no special code, etc. Some details would be appreciated.

I tested a "Fetch" quest with a custom POI in a fresh world and it worked.
I tested a "Clear" quest with a custom POI in a fresh world and it worked.

Update: A Fetch and Clear quest with a custom POI in a 2.2 world brought forward to 2.3 also worked.

How do they bug exactly? How are they incompatible?

I have the same question. Details please. Is there an exception and stack trace in the logs? Is there a red or yellow message in your console? Are you not getting a reward? What?

As much as I do like the new Biome Gear in place of the Biome Badges, I feel like it is really weird to wear all of them at once. I could not picture having a respirator, a sunhat, a wool hat, and *whatever we are wearing to protect against radiation* on my head all at the same time. I know that players can equip and unequip them as desired, but I feel like it would be more immersive/realistic to have to pick one. Players could keep them in their pocket/drone/vehicle to swap out or keep them at the base to just take what is needed. That would add some strategy to the gameplay.

I suppose it is a lot like the Spawn Near Bag topic earlier in this forum: It would be great if players had the option to toggle one Biome Gear at a time vs. stacked. Also, it would of course be cool to have the option that it is visible on the character.
