đź’ˇ Suggestion: Cured Zombie Companions (Repair Block HP)

Here’s a feature idea for 7 Days to Die: Introduce a craftable cure or serum that lets players heal certain zombies and turn them into friendly companions.

These cured zombies would not place blocks, but could:
- Repair damaged blocks (restore HP to walls, doors, traps, etc.)
- Carry basic materials (like wood or stone)
- Defend the base during horde nights
- Gather basic resources (wood, stone)
- Patrol the base area and alert the player to enemies

The cure could be made at a chemistry station or new lab using rare ingredients (infected tissue, medical components, clean blood). The zombie helper would need maintenance like feeding or healing.

It would add unique strategy and emotional depth to the game. Thanks for reading!

The devs have said they don't want to do companions beyond the drone. I think you'll have more luck asking to have the drone be able to do these types of things. Other than that, *maybe* it'll be something they'll consider after 4.0.

Thanks for the info! I didn’t know the devs were set on not adding companions beyond the drone.I like your idea about expanding the drone’s functionality instead. Maybe the drone could get a “support module” or “repair AI” upgrade in the future.I’ll keep my fingers crossed for 4.0 – who knows, maybe some new features like this will still make it in someday!

As a side note, if you're playing on PC, there are mods that add companions. I don't know if they have that kind of functionality since I've never used them, though.

Also, in case you haven't used the drone before, it already can carry stuff for you and will alert you to nearby enemies.

Thanks again! I didn’t know there were mods for companions — I’ll definitely look into that.
I’ve used the drone a bit, mostly for storage and alerts. Would be cool if future updates added a repair or resource-gathering module!
Appreciate the helpful tips!

What should the player do in the game then?
That’s a good point! I think the idea would be for them to help, not replace the player.

For example: they could do small repairs or gather basic resources, but the player would still have to build, explore, fight, and manage everything.

Just a way to add some strategy and variety, not automation. 🙂

Well, look. If the drone will do repairs and collect basic resources for me, then the only thing I will have left is to make bombs on the workbench and wait for the blood moon. Moreover, if the resource collection is at a normal speed, then the interval between moons can be set to 1 day.
