PC 1.0. No, this is still alpha.

I logged into my 48 day world.  All my 500 mechanical parts were missing.   So I though, well, the game is buggy still, I'll use the creative menu to return those parts to me.  After that, 4 workbenches were gone.   And several forges.

48 days, and I'm done.   This game is still super buggy.

Take care.

I've never lost anything in all my playing. And I've never heard anything like that from other players. Maybe you have a memory problem on your computer.

I have way too many hours in this game, starting 2013. And never had that happen, not even in the very early alphas. Never heard of anyone else having that issue either.

Try to verify your game files. Also are you using mods?

It might also be that you loaded a V1.3 save game with V1.4 running. Shouldn´t be that as it was only minor fixes in that update, but i just saw a post on steam where someones V1.3 save file got corrupted after loading it in V1.4.

Of course, is this stil Alpha, "V1" title is just a formality for releases on consoles.🤗
Wich makes it confusing for people that still believe version numbers are logical or are around long enough to remember the days when 1.0 ment a program was ready and not early acces/beta/alpha.

Games also did not release in a complete mess back then.   I could name 5 hyped games that was released with missing content.   Game development was easier back then.

I agree. But this is a consequence. The rules that the platform holders or publishers have come up with are not perfect and work in the wrong direction, forcing others to come up with workarounds and confuse themselves and users.

First off, it's extremely rare that any game is bug-free. With every single update, there is change to code that can create new bugs. Second, as others have stated, in all my time playing this game, I've never had a bug like this (unless I'm rolling with mods, which can cause an unstable experience. But that is not the game's fault). Your experience, while unfortunate, is very likely a rare occurrence and can be attributed to many things, including any mods that you may possibly be running. Lastly, complaining can be a great stress-reliever, but when it comes to bugs, creating posts like this is pointless and does absolutely nothing to fix the issue if you fail to submit a bug report. If you already did that, kudos! Otherwise, do everyone a favor and click that red banner at the top.

Back when?
There wasn't a single game in early acces on any cartridge I ever bought.

This means platformholders need to be confronted with those rules and rules should evolve in the right direction. Workarounds are the way of least resistance and will keep the wrong rules in place. Note that we, as users, also have a responsibility. If we don't speak up and just keep on buying nothing will ever improve.

(This is not a call for revolution but for self reflection. Altough a bit of revolution wouldn't hurt on this matter.)

Released games usually means finished game being sold.  Maybe I sold have added fully Released.

The only items I have ever lost are vehicles, and I haven't seen that happen for many major versions... I also have nearly 2000 hours in the game. Are you playing with mods?

Yep, I have been playing since A6 and I have never had this happen. 1000+ hours and NEVER lost anything. So.... That must be on your game config or mods my guy. If the game updates and your mods aren't compatible, this can certainly happen.

No mods.  I'm still baffled.  I have played for 5+ years, and have never had this happen.  Oh well, I guess it is a mystery.   If I can figure out what happened, I'll let this group know.

On another note, it sure would be nice to have a save game option that can store multiple saves.   I've posted a powershell script in this forum that can backup your game, but that is kinda clunky.   It should be a feature.

So when 2.0 hits they will think they're playing the sequel...?

A complete updated version with new features or a remaster. Not a sequel per definition. Often also the point you had to buy a new license and support for previous version got limited.

Maybe by time the game version is at 3.0 or 4.0 people will finally grasp that it is just the chosen numbering system for the unified console/PC game and is not following historical conventions.

Maybe not, but you're going to have even more people who believe it is a finished game.  You are welcome to your opinion that version numbers are irrelevant and that people shouldn't have any preconceptions about what the version numbers mean, but that doesn't change how a very large number of players think.  I don't think there has ever been any poll or study of players large enough regarding what they think of version numbers in games to know what the majority of players think, but I am fairly certain that more than half think that if a game is 1.0 (and definitely 2.0+) it is a completed game.  Yes, there may be updates afterwards or even content added afterwards, and there may be DLC and expansions, but the game itself is complete.  Now, if this game was stated to have only the features that we have now for release and then they were going to add new stuff in later updates/DLC, that would sit differently for players.  But they've clearly said that the finished game will have specific features that aren't in the game yet.  That's a different thing than if the game wasn't intended to have something like bandits for the completed game but would add them later as an update.  At that point, players accept that it's a finished game and 1.0+ makes sense to them.  But when it's so very clearly incomplete, a lot of players don't see 1.0+ as making any sense.

Regardless, this is the madness they've chosen and there's nothing anyone can do about it.

Yeah... Modern days disease: If you don't like the reality, create your own 🫠

(Not blaming TFP in particulair)

You mistake me. I absolutely think versioning numbers are important and the numbers they have chosen are confusing since they buck industry conventions. I don't begrudge anyone being confused at first when reading 1.0 or 2.0 and then seeing the "This is pre-release software" message on the loading screen.

My only disdain is for people who have come to understand that the numbering system is not following conventional industry usage and they know about the roadmap and when TFP will consider the game finished but they still go on and on about how the game is 1.0 but not finished months and months and coming up on close to a year now since it was all explained and they should have it straightened out by now.

July 2024 confusion and shock? Sure. Understandable.

April 2025 confusion and shock? Ridiculous.

I'm just talking about those who have been following the news and chatter all this time. If the only new threads being started about the fact that "this game is unfinished but has the 1.0 label!" were by brand new players I would get it. But amazingly most threads are from veterans who know the score but are still going on about it a year later and some of them actually pretend like nobody has ever told them that TFP's 1.0 doesn't mean the game is finished dozens and dozens of times already.

But hey, if TFP had stuck to their same numbering system then these people wouldn't be complaining about the meaning of 1.0. Instead, they'd be complaining about how the word "Alpha" was still appearing in the numbering system for 12 years and running. Guaranteed it would be the same exact people.

Self-inflicted wound by TFP.

Ungkor here isn't confused or shocked about it, he's using alpha vs "1.0" as the quality indicators they "should" be, mildly mocking TFP for that numbering decision while actually calling the game a buggy mess. Which - with the experience he describes there - sounds relatively accurate.

Calling that "confusion": ridiculous.
