PC V2.0 Storms Brewing Dev Diary

In the forest I encounter rabbits, chickens, snakes, boars, does, and bucks.

In the burnt forest I regularly encounter chickens, snakes, and boar.

I think the green forest does have more life.

Does and more rarely bucks show up almost like clockwork at 2am. Go out at 2am and you shouldn’t have to travel far before seeing one or more.
Would be cool if we had a Zombie deer.

I’m talking about 1.0

Boars are part of certain farm POIs that are pretty common. I’m not certain about wilderness spawns tbh

Wildlife in forest

Deer, rabbits, chickens snakes

Burnt Is

Hogs, deer, coyotes, rabbits, chickens, snakes

Desert is

Hogs, deer, cougars, wolves, coyotes, snakes, chicken and rabbits

Snow Is everything but snakes

I'm not sure about the wasteland cuz I don't go out at night in the wasteland but I've seen

Bears, snakes, dogs direwolves rabbits chickens, deer

Alight, it looks like the game's time is tied to the framerate. When I got 72 minutes my frames were well over 100 fps. I just streamed with the Better Biomes and Urban Decay mods installed which tanked my frames to around 100 fps and under and my 60 min day ended up being 70 mins. The next thing I'll try is capping my frames at 60 fps and then trying it capped 30 fps and see what happens.

Smaller bears, boars and wolves would look great in the forest! They may not have a very large spawn, but it's still better than what we have now. Those mythical pigs from the concept would look good there!

@faatal questing about the desert spitter, the frostclaw and the currently existing cop - will they actually spit in proper directions? Right now I often see the Cop zombie spit in a completely different direction, but somehow I get hit anyway. Example: I'm facing north, the cop is in front of me and facing east, and spits east. But his projectile still travels to me.

This isn't a latency issue - this happens in single player offline, too.
That might change.

Interesting seeing the burnt zombie being able to set you on fire again, I suppose this means the 20% extra damage boost they got in a17, has been reverted to re-compensate this?
Also, I'd like to see some ways to reduce the chance of being set on fire, aside from the fireman's almanac book.
While on the subject of mitigation, would be nice to have some ways to reduce the chance of instantly getting broken arms/legs.

It's fun to walk there at night, lots of zombie bears and direwolves. You can get a lot of rotten meat pretty quickly.

It's a shame that during the day there are regular bears, you have to go out at night to get the dead ones.

Feral burnt Zombies are on fire but I do hope they set you on fire and we see them on horde night

Similarly, I would like irradiated zombies to pass some radiation to the player's body by proximity, and more radiation per hit, encouraging the player to adapt in new ways like carrying iodine pills, as well as whatever kind of armour or equipment the new irradiated zones in wasteland biome will require.

Instead of having so many health points, I'd prefer irradiated zombies to be a little less bullet sponge, and at the same time anti-radiation mod doesn't cut off 100% their HP recovery, but maybe 50-75% HP recovery, That mod is too overpowered IMO that once you get the mod makes irradiated zombies too similar to other zombies, just more HP and damage.

@faatal

Hello sir. Could you please have it so when you turn the brightness down it doesn't affect indoors during the day? It works beautifully for nighttime, but it gets jarringly too dark indoors during daytime.

Arez, your post reminds me of how I miss being really dark night time, depending only of the torch"s area of light and not seeing further, being scared of every sound.

Wish it could be back with Storm is brewing, imagine guys,  walking scared in the middle of a storm at night and sometimes the lightnings allow to see more, but for a fraction of seconds.

Not real sexy, but "thermal resistance" perk and the "Insulated liner" mods could be co-opted to reduce fire chance or fire damage.  The armor plating mods, could be co-opted to reduce broken limbs or a new "exoskeleton" mod, similar to bandolier (only one needed).

It's funny that you say that.  There was a post last week asking if that mod was even worth using, and the responses were that it was, but that it depended on whether or not you had another mod to fill the slot.  I know I'll add it just to fill a slot if I have nothing else to go in the slot, but I normally don't add it because I think it's all that helpful to me.  I think it depends on difficulty, though.  If you're playing at the highest difficulty, they take a long time to die, so it's useful.  Otherwise, some headshots and they are dead without a problem with decent weapons and perks, so it might save a hit or two but isn't a big deal.
