PC V2.0 Storms Brewing Dev Diary

Hello, could we get clarification on a question i have about console to dedicated release?

what i would like to know exactly is if that release has to happen before 2.0 can release?

or

is it a possiblitity that 2.0 could release before console to dedicated update?

I very strongly feel thats important to know because i do not see sony and microsoft approving console to dedicated before apr 15th-  simply because dedicated has way to many security issues that need to be addressed first.

I also think it would ease alot of players minds knowing 2.0 isn't being held up because of console to dedicated release?

It isn't likely to happen prior to 2.0.

The most likely possibility is that it will occur when 2.0 is Stable. (There is literally no chance of it mattering for the April Experimental release, because console and MS Store versions do not have access to experimental builds.)

I would think a lot of players would already be aware of this if they had bothered to keep up with the News Posts regarding the upcoming release.

Since it appears you also have not kept up with the news, here is what is stated in the announcement regarding your questions.

Crossplay on Dedicated Server

  • We will not know officially if Consoles can play on dedicated servers until passing cert on each platform. Fingers crossed
"Passing cert" will be for the Stable release for v2.0 which is currently planned for probably sometime in May.

In the future, could they make cars that are on the streets able to be repaired and equip them with anti-zombie things? Other ideas would be like floods with rain and places like that that are close to rivers, also damage from thunder or lit trees, fires due to the environment... anyway, I'm sure they're up to date with that, but they're just suggestions! Very good update, I'm looking forward to playing it with a friend, I have 680 hours of play ❤️

That is a bug in the World Editor.  After placing a prefab, save and exit the World Editor, then go back in and rotate it to the correct orientation and save.  It will then remain correctly rotated.  This does not happen all the time, but it is very common.  I've never taken time to track down why it doesn't happen all the time, so can't give any advice for avoiding the problem.  It is a very long standing bug in the World Editor, unfortunately.
Thank you for the information.

If you'd like to make suggestions for features or changes, you should post in the Pimp Dreams forum.  Posts here are quickly buried by all the other posts.

From what they've said in the past, they aren't planning on making any other drivable vehicles other than perhaps a raft at some point.  If you are on PC, I'd recommend looking at the Vehicle Madness mod.  It provides a lot of new vehicles and you can repair some vehicles found on the road if you have the correct repair kit and can also craft the vehicles yourself.

Floods aren't likely as water flooding in this game (such as if you break terrain around a lake that allows it to pour into other areas) is very resource intensive and can drop your FPS significantly if there is a lot of it.  Spreading fires are also very resource intensive and aren't likely, though contained fires like they've added with the broken gas pipes are a possibility.  They said that if they did lightning damage at some point, it would just strike near you and cause some damage without killing you, but that isn't a guarantee that it'll happen.

You dont miss out, as updates are always posted here too. In the second post. Adam just desperately needs attention it seems as he ignores that fact.
Am taking your post as some lighthearted ribbing. I am sure there are plenty here who keep (and have kept up in past) up to date on what is going on with game following adams posts.

I have myself as for some reason (most likely that don't have an X account and probably never will) I couldn't see some of the updates that TFP's had put there.

They also post on Instagram but they post it on Twitter first usually

Ugh, Twitter... devs should get off that @%$#show because very few people will see anything posted there these days.

I didn't think to look on Bluesky. The closest thing I see is a person with a nickname of "The Fun Police" and this person:

@taka3m.bsky.social ... who has some 7 Days to Die graphics in their header.

From what I can tell, there’s no way to see posts in reverse chronological order on X when not logged in. Their algorithm determines how posts are sorted, and that’s the only option. It means that posts from years ago will still be at the top, while the newest stuff can be buried: sometimes irretrievably, because it’s not even infinite scroll. I’ve scrolled all the way to the bottom until it won’t load any more posts, and new posts are nowhere to be found.

Trying to use X as a platform for following company news is quite frustrating. The best I can do is to google the site and limit results to a time range. I’m loathe to admit this but what I’ve actually been doing is noticing when @Jugom cross-posts updates on the official Discord, and that’s how I know there’s a new post on X. So props to him, and however he’s tracking what’s new!

yeah the mods on the discord are some beautiful people, helping keep the peace, help people and make a socialable place etc. they have my thanks, so many good times i've had because of the people i have found from there.

EDIT: and to add onto that yeah, it is a major help as i dont have or wish to have an x account when i try to browse usually nothing comes up of recent, so when i get notified there its a big help rather than having to scrounge online.

on the topic of social media: yesterday someone from TFP said, in answer to a post, that they were planning to do a dev stream soon to explain the new biome progression mechanic. just wondering if any of you had heard or heard when it was happening.

@Adam the Waster you beautiful @%$#. :)

That's a different one...the first one I saw only referred to one stream. (I think it was on X...yeah I know I should leave it, but, it pays to know what people are thinking even or maybe especially when you don't agree. We can all create blind spots cuz we don't wanna look.)  Thank you for your digging.

geez...now I am wondering why it would need more than one stream.    hmmmmm

They usually do a few dev streams leading up to Streamer Weekend and Experimental release. They did this for 1.0 since there were a lot of changes coming - each stream was somewhat "dedicated" to different things, like one stream for "here's some new POIs," "here's some new features" etc.
