PC Is there a reason to use robotic turret shells?

I didn't know that they reduced fire rate, which is kinda annoying cause it doesn't let on this at all on the description or the ingame stats on the ammo itself, only on the turret provided you switch to that ammo, which was a real bummer.

I did some number crunching and don't actually see a point in using this at all, the bullets do 11.8 damage per shot, whereas the shells do 2.1 per pellet but across 8 pellets which translates to 16.8 damage per shot, so 42.37% more.

However the RPM goes from 105.6 to 75 which is 28.98% less, which leads to the DPS being 1.12% higher, yes, that's obviously extremely negligible, especially for the price of making the ammo being that it goes from costing 3 lead, to 6 lead and 0.2 clay (1 clay in a furnace). Which itself also removes any sorta point of "Ammo efficiency" since it takes over double the resources to make, and that's not including the time being taken to make it across the forge + workbench and the fuel used for the forge.

So, it's got 1% more DPS, less efficiency, less range, and uses extra fuel and time to make. Is there any reason to use this, like, at all?

Actual shotguns have target penetration, each pellet being able to hit two targets. I don't know if that's the case with these, but might be worth checking out.

Most ammo choices in the game have little impact.  There is some, but not a lot.  You'll have some people who will pick a specific type of ammo (HP, AP, etc.), but a lot of people just use the basic ammo.  It might be less effective, but it's cheaper and works just fine.  It's just a choice for players.

Did a quick test, seems my guess was correct; I was hitting two bears behind one another, for 24 each.

So, double damage on groups at walls / e-fences, and possibly on the POI conga lines - ofc that's going to be relatively ineffective against runners as the aim is random. But should be good for horde nights if you don't mind the mining.

Does the penetrator perk effect these?  Just curious. Thanks!

I think if they made turrets have player modded guns just go into a slot that would make them really cool. If you are familiar with Rust, that type of turret/gun arrangement would be SWEEET! 😎

I don´t think they are worth it. A good INT build while using the normal ammo for the turrets destroys everything easily no matter the difficulty. It´s actually kinda disgusting how OP it is.
