I don't think dedicated server crossplay is available right now, just peer to peer. Hopefully it won't take much longer
Thank you for that!  I was looking for the correct app_update command but wasn't at all sure what to choose.  So... we wait.  Do you happen to know, cause you're the expert now, if they announce the dedicated server builds or if we just have to keep looking.  BTW:  Did you read that in the release notes?  I"m wondering where I missed it.  Thanks!

It was posted in the experimental thread in the first post.  They should probably include that in this thread as well.  I have a feeling it is still going through approval or just needs more testing.  It is likely to come in 1.3, but may not appear until 2.0.  So expect January or February, depending which.  Unless they can get it going sooner and have things set up so they don't need to push a real update and can just give out a tiny patch without changing versions, but I wouldn't expect that.






 
This update definitely makes a game feel a little bit different I don't know why like the loading and some aspects the graphics and performance feels a lot better random gen is such a nice addition

The darkness settings are nice but it should just be part of the base game just naturally make the game much darker that would solve everyone's complaints

New models are great I love the vulture in the screamer sounds are fantastic

And I can't wait for the new boar pig and Grace model

In terms of small additions the fact that zombie spawn more in the Pine Forest is great and it might consider living there now because of it

But still a spawn setting would be great for those who want wasteland levels of zombies spawning.  Maybe even the types like solders, hazmat and special zombies in the wild. 

The Forest still could use some more Wildlife though. I personally think a nice change for a starting biome would be the plains then you progress to the forest then burnt forest, etc it would add everyone's favorite biome and make progress better

 
Sometimes I go back to Steam and read the comments there on the release announcement post.

There's so much crap goin' on... so much ignorance. So many comments that have no basis in reality.

But I can't help or correct the record anymore, so I'm just looking at the mess TFP mods there have created on Steam.
User reviews and discussions about entertainment have little value. Product reviews on the other hand are a different story. Either the thing works well or it doesn't.

People's opinions on games, movies, shows, etc are very personal which makes them basically personally worthless. Forums like Steam's and Reddit are essentially grease traps.

So who cares what these ham and eggers are writing? Those discussion boards are all filled with s%!t. The recent Steam reviews of the game are overwhelmingly positive. The playerbase is growing. The game is selling. None of their nonsense is having any significant negative impact on the game.

 
We need a zombie deer.
If we get a zombie deer before we get more than the 8 or so of the same zombie models we see around everywhere, I'll be p!$$3d. 

Zombie game needs more actual zombies before expanding out to more novelty creatures. 

Also, @faatal is the mountain lion supposed to glow in the dark?

Also also, I think the wildlife we have now in the game is fine. If anything they could add non-interactable wildlife like birds and squirrels to fill things out a bit.

I think a few more models would be cool like a farmer, Sheriff, a few civilian model and maybe a few more solder models 

In terms of wildlife I think we could have more. Maybe more types of meat like prime meat.  

Turkeys, fox's, wild dogs, bobcats, elk, black bears, maybe cows and bulls. 

Some extra stuff and maybe some higher tier versions of some of the animals we previously have like dire wolfs. Direbears, dire hogs. Etc 

 
You pick None under Betas and it will download the latest stable (1.2 b27), which is also the last experimental.
If not, then Steam had just not made it available yet in your region. Different people seem to get it at different times.

Don't hold your breath....  I am sure the game will crash, you'll lose your current save and then the Pimps will blame a past company for filing for bankruptcy.....

 
Yeah, I'd love to see a few normal birds, normal ground and tree critters. Even non-interactable ones.
I'd love to hear more ambient sounds like birds chirping coyotes howling Wolf's howling zombie moans. Vultures calls. 

Then at night you hear other things like wispers, howls of the wind. A rare gunshot in the distance.  Eco of a screamer.  

Then again with the game being so bright it won't be spooky 

 
That's interesting. On PC, if you have XML only mods and you're the host, whoever joins you will also have those mods initiated.

Test it. Remove all mods except for the XML only mods, host the game and see if your parent gets the mods too.

@faatalAlso, would it be possible to get in game menu options to disable mods, instead of having to keep moving things in and out of the mods folder? That would be a nice convenience for when playing with others that don't have the mods, as well as playing with consolers. 


Finally got around to troubleshooting this and seeing if it works and this is what's happened so far; EAC is enabled and the server is Online and Public:

Mods Folder with only XML mods in it loaded and active in the steamapps/common folder with tfp_harmony folder: No-go, server does not show up at all

Mods in the appadata/roaming/7daystodie path with the harmony folder: Server both shows up and does not show up; my parent can see a "1" where it indicates the server is there and active, but it does not show up in the actual list, that's blank

Mods in the appdata folder without harmony: mods still load, but Parent cannot see the server while still seeing the "1" indicating that the server does in fact exist.

Previous test, but parent restarted the game to see if it was just a visual glitch: same result as previous test

Mods folder completely removed from appdata folder, EAC on and present: server showed up and parent is able to join

I don't know if this is anything, but it is not currently working, despite sort of working? I wonder if Microsoft or something is detecting the changes to the XML files, treating it as spam or possible cheating without EAC being flagged because EAC doesn't see the mods as cheating, and is just refusing to show up because of the disparity between vanilla 7 Days configs and my mod ones. Or, TFP just forgot to check a box / aren't ready to check the box that shows modded servers (with EAC enabled) through crossplay yet.

Disappointed, but not really upset! At least it was tested! I don't know if anyone else has had the same result, but those were mine and theirs

I think what Faatal did  was probably the best option, down the middle, so neither side is

forced to play the opposite way.  It's like two people at a table, and a third one buys them

a pizza, normally each should get 50% or four slices. But what about the person that bought

it. So Faatal bought a Chicago Cut, so each side got 4 pieces, and and he got the center "Peace". :wink:

I'll probably come with the pig update and yes we do need a zombie deer Zombie Chicken zombie wolf not a dire wolf zombie cougars zombie rabbit and chicken 
There may be no need in the future for new models to do this.

TFP already has the <property name="AltMats" for the zombies I hope they
expand it to the animals. This ways no extra models needed, after the next

basic additions it's basically a reskin, and an extra entityclasses addon, with

hostile reactions. An adaptation of the zombies.

For now the template is already included "The Twitch Murder Chicken"

 just go to entitygroups and make it
look like this.

That would fit well if they added a simple flock boid algorithm, but without
colliders and a really low poly model. If these also had alt mats then it would

show a variation visually.

Prime meat would be an interesting way of providing some variation. I like that idea.

Nah, these are good ideas! Good spook-outs would add some jumpiness hahaha

I don't think they forgot. They likely did it on purpose because mods are not allowed by MS and Sony. Or maybe it is a function of Microsoft to check the files and allow or disallow for changes to the files to be accepted by the console client.

Lead has been banned for awhile, so maybe it's the fluoride in the water causing this.

I have to strongly disagree re new screamer sounds, absolutely awful, can barely hear her over other sounds, and more importantly, can barely hear the screamer when she's on her own, and when she does "scream" it's just, well, awful, not a scream, just a big fat nothing. Who in hell took away the previously incredibly awesome sounds and put the new ones in, is doing it wrong. completely (just being brutally honest)

This is something i feel strongly enough about to stay on the previous version (with previous screamer sounds) for good. (and i should clarify, i absolutely adore this game and play it most days, i've not once come across a game that has such endless replayability).   I've said it a few times before, the screamer is a unique and amazing game mechanic, to destroy her screams is blasphemy and you can't call a screamer, a screamer when she doesn't scream !

Has someone else noticed the screamer sounds change or noticed no change in the newest stable version? In the latter case it would be a problem with Giggling's game and he surely would want to know that. And if there was a change what is your impression of the new screamer sound? Is it really so bad?

(I myself can't test it at the moment)
