POIS: Remnants, pre and post war POIS

The console edition / Alpha 15 and 16 are a good example of grime but the game was also just way too dark

I think alpha 20 is perfect in terms of darkness

Agreed they are should make some textures more dirty to match the new zombies. Add some grime or make it look darker
I love this idea... but due to the limitation of available number of paints, I would probably not want it.  I would love those kinds of gritty, grimy paints and textures in POI.  But I wouldn't want those in my base.  If they could have both nice, clean paints and textures as well as the gritty, grimy ones, then that would be perfect.  Since they can't seem to increase the number of available paints/textures, I'd rather stick to ones that are at least decent looking.  Of course, many of the ones we have are also not very nice to begin with.  Peeling paint on concrete and wood siding paints, for example.  Horrible wallpaper "paints".  But at least there are some that are nice and clean and work well enough.  I would REALLY like to have double or triple the available paint choices, with each one having a variety of color/tint options rather than needing a bunch of the same paint/texture that just have different colors like we have now.  I'd choose that over bandits any day.  :)

For TFP prefabbed pois, they could use the existing , Texture2darray and add other overlays

like the blood in the streets. Then randomize it on game generation. The Player built pois could

keep the existing paint textures.

Well, here I suggest a subway and tonight I find a subway in the game, with the tunnels collapsed like I had thought would work well.  It is really well done.  Great work to whoever created that POI.  But wow, for a 0 tier POI, it had a lot of ferals (bikers and that fat guy mostly) and a radiated zombie.  Oddly, the loot area didn't have any zombies.

Old houses from the traders! Shows their personality based on their honss

Jen residence: has flowers, doctoers degrees and is a nice mordern house. Has a nice car outside and a safe room inside

Bob: a old farm with a chair outside with a small secret moonshine still. 2 graves outside his out. And a a old dog house.

Hugh: a rough survivalist house with a basement that had a large bunker. An American flag and don't tread on me flag outside his out.

Joel: a old cabin, with a shed were he did old fashioned leather working, a old pickup truck with a attic that is armored and protected

Bob: a old trailers connected toghter!  a pickup truck. Junk everywhere! And a buried trailer that was a bunker for him!

Noahs: a old Victoria style house with a bunch of old motorcycles. A small bunker under his house full of guns, drugs, bunks and gas. A true biker

Have you ever thought about remaking some of the old buildings from like the older Alphas @Laz Man? I know most pois now are based off old buildings. But I mean having just simple subran homes just to Raid a pillage.

And I got a few more POI ideas I got while on a trip with my girl.

-Country school house (good for books). Maybe a few types of school houses

-Countryside general store and pawnshop (sells just about everything guns included)

-A few more trailer parks.. maybe one with a old millitary presents.

-farmers market. Country poi good for food early game. And maybe a small section with books.

-country store plazas. I saw one with a old gun store next to a papa John's and I thought that was funny. But they are more basic looking like many old store plazas

-a mall, when I went to the mall it so so Erie with it being so empty I think that would have been made an excellent place in 7dtd. Full of zombies maybe a place protection by the military

Few extra @Laz Man

-Visitor center (Ranger station theme) a small one and a large one

-caves

Bear cave

Lion cave

Wolfs den

Coyotes Den

hogs cave: has another grace!

Hugos caves (some random wastelanders cave)

Lost abandon mine

Native burial cave

Native war cave

Native ritual cave

Fort shaft: (a small millitary camp in a old cave, very crude)

White river supply cave

Millitary supply cave

The survivalist cabin: a tier 4 rual house that is armed to the teeth. And tells the story about how a certain individual we know started his days at the Apocalypse

Make out point: need I say more?

White trash style houses deeper in the woods. Styled like trader bobs house with metal roofs, junk, Adobe, with iron bars on windows, wooden houses, trailers with homes built into them.  This is the stuff I've seen while growing up. Granted florida is different from Arizona. But im sure there are some poor country towns were everyone is armed. At the only thing to do is drink beer and go mudding.

Homes:

Billy bobs residence

Uncle joeys residence

Mama Juns dwelling

Hobo John's residence

Waylands residence

The smith's residence

The Carl's cabin

Sally's residence

The Wilkersons dwellings

Stores:

-Pump an fix: a poor hobos gas station and mechanics

-Hugo's bar: a bar with a trailer built into it that he lives in.

-Big Tommy's guns and jerky: very small savage country

-Doctor John's: old county doctor

Andy's books:

-Ellis salvage: a small poor junkl yard.

-Cairls iron works: a small blacksmithing shop

-Leilani's leather works: good place for cloths

-Arthur's woodworking: little wood making shop

A traditional 2-story interior mall would make an amazing T5/T6 POI.  A small theatre at one end, a big food court. Tons of little 800 sq ft shops.  And so many zombies roaming the main hallways.  I would totally do this if I felt I could keep the look and feel/branding of their existing stores in other POIs.

It could be non-linear, too, which we have too few of these days.  Can just run the halls and break into stores in whatever order you choose until its emptied out.  Man, this would be awesome.  Opry Mills in Nashville would be a perfect basic design, too.  Its just a big elongated Q.  A main loop with a long tail that goes to the movie theatre.

Hell yeah that sounds awesome! Have a few areas that are open. Like the whole mall. But the stores are like little POIs.

Have some stuff laying around in the mall. Maybe a part of it is under ground

If you wanted to make the Mall a Tile, you should be able to make the stores actually be POIs and then each RWG effort could rearrange all of the stores. The trouble will be you can't stack POIs on top of each other, so you're probably better off with an outdoor open-air style mall.

If you make the Mall a POI, the stores could be Parts but it arrangement of stores would be less random and your final loot would probably have to be in the Mall itself, not in one of the store Parts. You also run a chance that RWG won't pick any of the parts so let it randomize so you could end up with an empty store.

The way i see it. It's just a big empty Mall with junk all around and Cluder then you have just the main little stores that are built like pois. Kinda like a plaza without the random generation.

If you go back too the Mall again it's going to be the same

You could use a mall tile with a roof everywhere but the stores.  Have each internal POI be a set of stores, 2 story.  As long as you define where walkways are, storefronts are, etc.  Could be 3 stores on each level, and plug about 8 or 10 sets as POIs into the entire mall.

As long as you're careful setting ceiling height, floor height, uniform railings.  Basically everything you'd do if you were constructing a real mall :D

And with guidelines like that set, it could be a community project.

Can't focus on work with this in my head.

Hmmm shop clusters are T1s,  Dept Stores at wing ends that are T3.  T2 non-quest Food Court, with a couple variations.  Maybe a T3 movie theatre with a diff size/shape from the Dept stores so they can't cross-populate.  Publish hollow templates for the community to create their own variations.  It could practically be its own compopack.

Make the center of the tile big enough and you could build your base inside the mall and just live out of it.

Man, I'm gonna have to do this.  You guys are gonna get me divorced, cause I have no self control when it comes to creative works.
