DLX Weapons Fix - [V1.0 - V1.1] - Aligned Sights, Aiming directly from the SCOPE and MORE!

Welcome to my mod project!

Back in 2022 I started this project with the the purpose to Fix all the Iron Sights of vanilla weapons!

One day I just got tired of those nonsensical misaligned sights on the top of the Pistol, Hunting Rifle, SMG, Ak47, etc...

and I started looking for a way to align them and improve the Model of the poor looking ones.

And when I finally succeeded, I certainly didn't stop there!

As time went by, I studied and found a way to improve the weapons in their various aspects, from their Model and Textures to the Shooting System itself.

I even managed to add New Components to the weapons and give shape to those Mods (such as Retracting Stock, Magazine Extender, etc.)  that you don't normally see!

At some point I decided to completely overhaul the concept of the Scope Aiming System, allowing the Player to use the Real Scope installed on all Vanilla Weapons rather than a small reticle drawn on a black background.

Once I got the hang of it, I was able to add more complexity on the Movement System, making it much more Interesting and dynamic.

And everything is customizable through the configuration file "DLX-ConfigFile.xml"!

In the future I plan to add more features to the mod, I certainly won't stop there!

Being one of those people who had the chance to play and fell in love with this game from the very first Alpha 1 back in 2013

(yes, the one that crashed every five minutes), I wanted to develop this mod as a tribute to the good old days!

The Mod currently works for Version 1.0 and Version 1.1.

Keep in mind, because it uses libraries in order to work, it may not be EAC friendly! So I suggest you to disable it, at least when you go MP!

Great idea for a mod, thank you for making it. I'm especially looking forward to the scopes, as the current ones are very "gamey" for the reasons you described.

I'm not a fan of Iron Sights in games, as they never really represent how they are used in reality (worst example are pistols, which are not held 5 centimeters from your face 😄), but anything better than current is an improvement into the right direction.

 
Do you plan to rework all of the current firearms as well? This is exactly what we've needed for a long time!
Short answer: YES 🔥🔥🔥

I intend to intervene on all current guns, including the Magnum, SMG, Hunting Rifle and so on, to align the front sight and make the scope usable directly from the model on the gun.

Unfortunately, in these years I have never seen a real improvement on weapon mechanics. Sure, pipe weapons have been added and other gun's models have been improved, but many other features have been left unchanged.

The sights of many firearms are misaligned or even missing.

There is still too much use of crosshair directly on the screen, even when aiming.

The "reticle on a black screen" method, which i've never liked, is still used when aiming with scopes.

The recoil of the weapons is still pretty basic.

When aiming the gun is completely still, as if the person holding the gun is not breathing or something.

I am currently focusing on the AK47. It's quite a long job as I had to redo the textures and redesign the upper part of the gun, but I'm moving on.

I also plan to create models for those mods that are not visible on the weapon, such as the magazine extender or the bipod.

UPDATE: TIME FOR THE AK 47 TO SHINE WITH THE NEW VERSION 1.1.69

I just released a New Update 🔥🔥
 

In this Update I focused on Ak 47.

Here is a summary.

  • Iron sight is perfectly aligned.
  • Zoom on the weapon when aiming is correctly set.
  • You can now use the Scope directly from the Scope Model.
  • Zoom on the weapon when aiming with Scope is correctly set.
  • Added Scratches on the right side of the Scope to help distinguish the 2X and 4X scopes.
  • Improved Scope Textures.
  • Improved Scope Mesh.
  • Added a Spent Bullet Shell that dynamically interacts with the external environment.
  • Added Muzzle Smoke, Muzzle Fire and Muzzle Light.
  • Animated the Charging Handle.
  • Animations have been made smoother.
  • Revised Ak 47 Model and Texture.
  • Removed the Rail on the top of the gun. 
  • The Dust Cover is further rounded.
  • Added new models for mods currently not visible on the weapon.

    Magazine Extender.
  • Drum Magazine.
  • Retracting Stock.
  • Fore Grip.
  • Bipod.
  • Muzzle Brake.

I actually love this idea. It makes things look a lot better from the video. I just wish it had all the weapons done, but it looks like you just released the AK so you're probably working on the rest.

Don't worry! I plan to work on all firearms that need a sight fix. I'm currently working on the Hunting Rifle, then it'll be time for other guns like SMG, Magnum etc...

 
I haven't been this excited for a mod in a long time. You highlight pretty much every gripe I have with guns in this game. I do have a few questions though, will your custom scopes work with custom gun mods? I know that simply attaching the model of the new scope on a gun isn't simple and requires lining up the actual reticle and such, but would it be possible to create a patch between this mod and other larger known gun mods and modpacks? Also, will there ever be options for different models for the scopes? I love that you are keeping the feel of the vanilla game with the dirty and DIY like scopes, but will there ever be options for a cleaner, more modern type acog or something? Thanks, and keep up the great work!

In this Update I focused on Hunting Rifle.

Here is a summary.

  • Iron sight is perfectly aligned.
  • Totally Replaced the Iron Sight with a New One.
  • Zoom on the weapon when aiming is correctly set.
  • You can now use the Scope directly from the Scope Model.
  • Zoom on the weapon when aiming with Scope is correctly set.
  • Added Scratches on the right side of the Scope to help distinguish the 2X, 4X and 8X scopes.
  • Improved Scope Textures.
  • Improved Scope Mesh.
  • Added a Spent Bullet Shell that dynamically interacts with the external environment.
  • Added Muzzle Smoke, Muzzle Fire and Muzzle Light.
  • Added Recoil in Fire Animation.
  • Slightly changed the Reload Animation to be more powerful.
  • Animations have been made smoother.
  • Updated the Reflex Mesh in order to be more open and clear.
  • Moved the Laser near the lateral Rail. 
  • Improved Hunting Rifle Texture around the Iron Sight.
  • Removed the Rail on the top of the gun. 
  • Added new models for mods currently not visible on the weapon.

    Retracting Stock.

I'm really into this. The A20 models are nice and all but I hate what they did with the iron sights. They look ridiculous. And I love your approach to scopes. I made some custom scope sprites a while back to make them a little more realistic, but I couldn't get the peripheral blur like I wanted. And they were still 2D.

The only thing I'm not a fan of is the red tint to all the reflex sights/scopes. Reduces the contrast between the reticle and target. IRL looking through a reflex sight they're generally clear or have a very slight bluish tint (Due to the reflection of red light. Different laser color will have a different tint, being designed to reflect a different wavelength).

I love this mod. It's one of my favorites and an absolute must have for me. Did have a question that's not really against the mod itself but just pure curiosity. I play a lot more Darkness Falls than I do vanilla and from what I can tell, this mod works with DF except for the AK 47. Any idea why that would be? I would get it if it was some crazy laser weapon that Khaine made up and that's why it's not working, but it's just the normal AK that seems to have an issue at the moment. The ammo count in the bottom right disappears and if it's loaded before you install this mod and you come back into the game, you can shoot but the bullets dont do any damage at all. Pistol works great, same with the hunting rifle. Like I said, pure curiosity, not saying anything negative about the mod and I'm sure it wasn't built with DF in mind.

Your're right! The SMG is the next weapon I'm working on. 🔥🔥

It is almost ready and will be released in a few days. It just needs a few more fine tweaks. ✔️

I will also prepare a quick video for this new update.

I'm sorry but unfortunately I have to proceed more slowly during this period . . . .

I am in the middle of my summer session and I have to study to prepare for the exams at the Uni (conducting a M. Sc :roll:  )

Also, I started  working in another project, something that I will eventually merge to this mod.... something that will make this mod a Non-EAC one ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) (yes, a library project).

By the way, after the SMG mod is released, the next weapon I'll be working on is.... a big pistol with a pretty f✴️✴️✴️ed iron sight 😉

  • Added Roughness and Metallic Texture on the Iron Sight and on the back of the gun.
  • Rounded SMG Mesh on the back of the gun.
  • Zoom on the weapon when aiming is correctly set.
  • You can now use the Scope directly from the Scope Model.
  • Zoom on the weapon when aiming with Scope is correctly set.
  • Improved Scope Textures.
  • Improved and Rounded Scope Mesh.
  • Added a Spent Bullet Shell that dynamically interacts with the external environment.
  • Added and animated the Action, i.e. the part where the Bullet Shells exit.

Hello Sir,

I tried your mod and really enjoyed it.  I'm playing with the darkness falls overhaul and it was working with the hunting rifle, but it causes the ak to not reload.  I was wondering if there might be any chance for a compatibility patch in the future?

You can use the "ShakeCamera" action to simulate weapon sway quite nicely
