You just answered your own question...It's been random horde spawns hitting in the morning.
Jep, that's it. But they don't magically know where the player goes like a bloodmoon horde. They won't change their direction for no reason and they are not aggressive.Also the roaming horde spawns randomly during the day or night, and they hit towards the direction where you are at the moment they've got spawned. That's to prevent the players to stay too much in a single spot
There is no longer any specific post-blood-moon horde. That was a feature of older versions (and the Wiki is noted as such).There are hordes that spawn before and after the blood moon.

You will only notice random hordes when you are in the same place for a period of time. If the random horde spawns while you are travelling you are unlikely to notice that spawn. So if you have been spending a bunch of time in your base at night then it's not a surprise that you are seeing a bunch of random hordes there.This is happened to me last three mornings in a row. Seems odd but it could be just luck like so many things in this game.
