Zombies spinning forward more often?

As per title. Not sure if it's just lack of luck or what, but the pirouettes zombies do after you strike them have been a lot more prevalent it seems. Even whilst shooting with ranged attacks, the zombies have been spinning toward me, closing the gap I've used to kite them, at an increased rate. Has anyone else experienced this? Is this now by design, or is it because I'm playing on a slightly increased game difficulty?

 
It may be my imagination, but there do seem to be more of the spin-lunge moves being executed :)
