After having this game since day 1. I got a lady friend to play it as of A17 and she loved it. She has a hard time doing all the stuff but with my help we had a blast. Since A18 she now is thinking of giving it up because we have game set to walk on all Zombies at any time. Now with this Rage added she just can't handle it at all and getting very frustrated. I can understand if you have Rage on any other level..other than all walk..because that's the idea.. they all walk.. not all walk and then when you hit them they decided to run for a period. I don't think we will be playing it anymore unless this is changed. Hate to see people get turned off because Walking Zombies is no longer walking.. It's now Walking with also running added. :(

 
I really appreciate that they are adding in new features such as the zombie rage mechanic. That being said I wish it was an option when creating the world if we want to use it or not. I'm not a big fan of the rage feature but it's worth keeping in as an option if other people want to us it.

 
A tip while you wait to see if you can turn it off:

If you wait to see if he is enraged before moving back, you will have to turn and run. If you take a few steps back after you hit him, even before seeing if he is enraged, just walking back will be enough (bc you already have distance advantage and it usually lasts only a few seconds). Move constanlty, forward and hit, backward and watch.

I havent almost felt the change with the enrage mechanic playing like this.

Short note: Super Rage has been added. This lasts longer and the zombie runs faster.

I don't know if the Super Rage can happen at all on standard difficulty but I've seen it on warrior difficulty.

I havent played with 152, so no idea about it. IMO I dont mind, fighting was pretty easy anyway. Better this than more bullet sponges like iradiated zombies.

 
There's more things that change with difficulty not only rage, damage numbers, game stage progression, number of zombies etc, not only zombie rage, don't want extreme baby mode just bcs of one mechanic that dislike, since can't turn it off, just took heavy armor to be tanky and wasting tons of time for their sprint to end, wish could spend that time exploring insteed of doing circles trying to kill few zombos that suddenly have an adrenaline system working in their rotten body.

 
So this is a copy/paste with most of this from another post, I just stumbled on this one too. I also dislike the rage mechanic with melee in it's current form.

I found a work around that effectively counters the annoyance of the rage mechanic and is doable in xml and also saves time getting places for those of us who can't play for hours at a time. In the 7 Days To Die/Data/Config folder, entityclasses.xml I changed these few values which add a bit of speed but at these levels don't seem too overpowered to me(provided below). It is the player's speed near the top of it. And it just keeps you moving slightly faster so unless they are full sprinting at you, backing up is a lot safer than before. If it's still too irritating for them, you can edit the value higher as you see fit.

icant understand how bad you must be to not be able to handle s small dash applied to walking zombies? i my play on the easy myself and i have a devent understanding on how to press left mouse button and turn around and do it on repeat.

There are all types of players and skills. I saw my father just trying to move around in a 3d game and controlling mouse and keyboard for somebody without experience wasnt easy. And he still liked games like the first worms, so he could enjoy gaming.

That was an extreme example, but as easy as I find combat in this game, I can perfectly imagine people having a tough time.

 
People need to stop equating "not liking this mechanic" to "not being able to handle this mechanic" just because you do not like playing tag with nearly every basic enemy in the game does not man it's that hard. It means it's annoying and tedious.

Let's be clear, putting difficulty on scavenger is not a true solution to this. Its like saying if you think zombies do too much damage, you should always just play with god mode on.

 
Not a fan of the rage mechanic either. Although on default settings it is rarely a problem once you get melee damage up high enough to stagger a bit on each hit.

 
I found that hitting zeds in the legs (the spear is awesome for this) cripples them enough that the rage mechanic is more easily dealt with. And while they are doubled over they get a shot to the head. Makes me less complacent. Tactic doesn't work on vultures though.
