Xmlexception: Root Missing. Need help

Game will launch but if i try to create a new game it brings up the developer console and says Xmlexception root missing and refuses to go further I have to use task manager to close out of the game at this point. This started after I had a power outage during the map creation process for a non pre generated map. I have fully uninstalled the game and reinstalled tried looking for help else where but to no avail. I have no idea what could be done to fix this at this point. I may be relatively new to 7 days to die but I still find it enjoyable and would not like this to be my final interaction with this game. If anyone can provide any help on this subject message me post haste so i can continue to screw around with this wonderful game.

Edit 1: Have not used mods or attempted to alter the game data in anyway outside normal in game options.

Verify your game files in through Steam and delete your saved game data through the Launcher.

Thank you I had not tried the launcher since always just used steam. Thank you for the help have a great one.
