Xbox Series X--stuck at Initializing World screen

My boyfriend and I recently re-purchased 7dtd. We are both fully updated to v1.2 (b27).

My boyfriend started a new Navezgane file, and we were playing without issues until a few days ago. Now, whenever he starts up the game (through 'Continue Game'), it goes through the motions of game data, initialing world, loading blocks, loading game data, to Initializing World. The 33 game hints will rotate when using LT/RT, but will stay there for hours. We have waited for IRL hours, and nothing changes.

We are both upset that we got over 150 days into this file that we can't play. Anything we can do to fix it to play our game file? We've resorted to playing a new file on my Xbox with me hosting, but it's really dampened the game experience to lose weeks worth of progress. We had just built the gyrocopter and hadn't even had a chance to fly it yet.

I have the same issue.  I’m on like day 128 and I’m stuck on the initializing screen.  I can create a new game, so that works.  So after months I am locked out of my world.  Please help!

@Sid Crosby

Can you tell me how large your save file folder is after that many ingame days?

Do you have more than just that save file for 7 days to die? What I mean is,

have you played multiple worlds, or just the 128 day?

The last question are you using cloud save sync enabled or disabled?

Would you be willing to check. Here is how, I copied from Dead Smarty

in another thread.

You can manage your data for individual games through My games & apps on your Home screen. Here's how:

  1. On Home, select My games & apps.
  2. Highlight the game, press the Menu button on your controller, then select Manage game & add-ons.
  3. Select the Saved data box, then choose the game you want.

Don't delete, just see if the option is turned on. The reason I am checking is because i have been reading a lot

once I saw the similarities in various posts. Save cloud has a 256 meg per TitleID, after a bunch of queries i found

out that that would include the size of any other 7dtd saves.

I don't know fully how it works, once full. But if it keeps trying to overwrite up to 389 it could possibly get corrupted.

On 7 dtd a pause for me happened if I had a bad edit, or file. You don't edit so that's of f the table, But another

situation is/was when my pagefile, cache or hd were full, that was on pc but the principle is the same.

How do you, or are you able to look at error logs?

I found this

To view error logs on an Xbox, you can access the "Report a problem" feature by pressing and holding the Xbox button on your controller, then selecting "Report a problem";

this allows you to capture detailed diagnostic logs and provide feedback to Microsoft about

the issue you're experiencing. If there is a code write it down it may help figure this out.

From Google AI

Yes, Xbox cloud save is turned on by default for all Xbox accounts.

I tried the first option.  It took me to a dead end where when i clicked on the game it said, clear reserved space.  that was the only option. As far as getting data logs I had to request them and it says it may take a while.

Were you logged into xbox account when you tried?

Next you would have to check your connection is ok,
and verify whether cloud share is enabled or disabled.

To enable or disable cloud sharing on Xbox, navigate to "Profile & system
> Settings > System > Storage > Cloud saved games"; here, you can toggle
the option to enable or disable cloud saves for your Xbox profile, essentially
controlling whether your game saves are automatically uploaded to the cloud.

Cache
Yes, a full cache on an Xbox can potentially cause a game to not start,
as a large buildup of temporary data in the cache can lead to performance
issues, including slow loading times or even complete failure to launch a game.

To clear cache correctly:

Save all game progress
shut down all apps correctly
press and hold console button until it shuts off
disconnect your power cable from xbox or from the wall

Wait a minute or so, and while still unplugged, press
and hold the power button to fully discharge, id say
between 8 and 15 seconds.

Reconnect and start it back up.

I do this on my router once every couple of months, "because my throughput is usually around 600 gig"
It helps my internet speed, and connectivity. I also
did it for the NTLOS server routers, every 3 months
at my job because connectivity issues and shut downs
would begin to happen. I never told anyone what I was

doing, so they would call me at home, I'd remote reboot

the system clear the cache, and they called me Matrix.

I hope we are getting close, there are a lot of people affected by this.

There is one more thing, that I thought about. This use to happen to me

on 7dtd a log time ago. It would sometimes get stuck at the initializing world

so I opened the command console to watch the order.

The last thing I saw, and i will be corrected if I am wrong, is the initialization

of the character and placing them in world. So I changed the setting for the

profile and picked another preset character. logged off then back on and it

completed login. Don't know why but it was like it temporarily corrupted the

character.

It's not guaranteed to resolve the total problem but here are the steps.

when you start the game do you see this screen

logon 1.png

check options then

logon 2.png

I changed mine from the Danny Treo doll to a girl

logon 3.png

after picking the new model accept it and try to log into the affected save

that stopped at the initializing world. If it does not work then it points to

corruption potential. Or lack of storage space either on console or the limited

cloud storage. That's a microsoft regulation.

I am trying to help by using osi layer configuration.

osi.png

That plus data storage filesize, vs limitations, = variable results. It isn't the Eula itself

Proof: I play much older versions all the time, when I come back to the present version

I have to accept the Eula each time, without issue.

Ok I was able to change the character but it did not help.  Thank you for trying to help with this.  Much appreciated!  Let me know if you come up with another idea!  Thank you

Your're welcome. I have plenty of ideas but most of these were
to attempt to keep present progress. Jugginator made a post in
the other thread, regarding a patch to make saves more compatible.

Believe it or not this is not much different than what happend on pc
repeatedly in the beginning. It's Just that most of that history can
only be found on the wayback machine website now. Until now every alpha
change required a complete wipe. After 22 alphas it's kind of become the
norm.

Question

Do you also own a computer or maybe you can use your phone if available,
I ask because one thing though inconvenient in the beginning, would at
least let you play. And at least give the possibility of re-engaging that
save later, if its not corrupted.
First Choice

Steps to play offline on an Xbox Series X

Press the Xbox button on your controller to open the guide
    Select Settings
    Select General
    Select Network settings
    Select Go offline
Launch the game you want to play

This means that you would be able to play, just temporarily as a single player.
Second Choice

I have read and don't know how reliable this is, but for a pc you can make
two folders, copy the local save to one, the cloud save to the other, so no
deleting intially. A phone depending on how much free space, suposedly can be
bluetooth connected through the controllers. It may be possible to transfer
the questionable saves, to folders there.

If you are able to do that then, it would be safe to delete both the cloud and
local save. Then check for the update, Once all is done a few options are made
available to you. 1 You can compare file sizes, to see if there is a difference.
If different then points to missing progression data or corruption. If the same
then a sytem incompatibility. 2 You should be able to start a fresh game after
the game files are verified and or updated. Just create one; log in to see the
character; then log off; see if continue is available.
Suggestion

This time you may need to monitor the amount of time played, Like a day, or certain
amount of pois, or certain amount of quests. Then keep a regular check on the both
the cloud and local folder sizes. If you are approaching 256 meg, to be safe I'd
then repeat the save process from above.
Impromptu thought on what happened

My personal thought, only going from the posts here and all over the web, and
queried answers from Microsoft, xbox, and of course Google AI. This may have been
what happened. The game was downloaded, and played to the point of being greater
than the cloud storage size before exiting the game.
The Process as I've continued to read and learn

An Xbox console typically syncs game saves to the cloud when you exit a game; meaning
your progress is saved locally while playing, and then automatically uploaded to the
cloud once you leave the game and return to the Xbox dashboard.

Then when a reload was attempted, it would not start. Xbox cloud sync only attempts to
make a copy of the local save. It does not overwrite or delete, only the user, can
manually do that.
How I would troubleshoot a situation like this

So if I were going to troubleshoot a play fail of this type, I would log into the
menu, go to the cloud and delete the cloud save only, then "before" exiting menu go
offline, log off clear the power and cache like in one of the previous posts, and log on.

If i can log on and play a continue then it was a faulty sync because of the save size.
If not then then there is possibly corruption of data or another problem. Which is why
I pointed to changing the character.
Lot of words, but in reality it should only take about 20 or so minutes to complete, unless
a large download is needed. If you find another resolution please let me know because I am
curious.
