PC Xbox Mouse and keyboard

When using a mouse and keyboard and my controller turns off because I'm not using it, I get a constant pop up saying I need a controller to play this game. Am I doing something wrong or does anyone have a fix. 

 
If your controller is wireless you might try just taking out the batteries or the battery pack if you use one, and then using a USB cable plugged into the Xbox and set the controller on the side.  Normally if it is hard wired the controller doesn't go to sleep.

 
I'm using mouse and keyboard on my series x and it constantly tells me that I need a controller to play.   I found a work around, but seems weird all the same.  Not sure if it's an issue on Microsoft's end or yours.

Also, not sure if it's a bug or an intentional feature but the drag and drop feature with keyboard and mouse doesn't work.  Also can't use backspace or delete while typing quantity in crafting or searching in crafting.  

Other than that I'm pleasantly surprised with how smooth it runs and can't wait for random Gen and mods

 
Is anyone else also unable to use mouse and keyboard on console? I tried to and my keyboard worms but my mouse doesnt really work, i can move the mouse around when i press esc for options or like open my inventory but no buttons that i press on my mouse actually work including the LMB or RMB but in other games on my ps5 it does work
