Wrench animation doesn't match sound exactly

When you hold the button down while using the wrench for hitting, the animation and sound are off a little.  The sound gets farther and farther off of the animation.

I couldn't reproduce this effect. I tried 30 swings and didn't go out of sync.

How many swings does it take?
