Will the devs be reducing the ground depth in future updates?

I cant find any ores below about 15 blocks or so - are they removed?
If they've been removed, I assume that they were removed because of memory consumption or similar. Given an average of 60-65 block below surface depth currently, if ores have been removed from below about 15 blocks and we cant build bases below ground due to certain changes does that suggest that most blocks below about block 30 are now pretty much redundant to game play.
If ores below 15 blocks are being removed now due to memory or processor constraints I would image those constraints will get even more demanding when bandits and other additions are worked into the game. Will blocks below about 30 or so be removed in future updates for the same reason that ores are removed?

I have an iron mine, the surface was at +40m, and there is iron all the way down to +3m bedrock. This is a pregen map, don't know if that makes a difference.

I haven't tried deep mining in 2.0, so I can't say whether ores are gone at those depths. I did want to say: we absolutely can build underground bases. They just aren't immune to zombie visits. My current base is deep underground (I had to clear out a lot of ore, but I don't recall the deepest point I ran into any). The entrance is central to its location and the occasional screamer always goes straight there to be dispatched by turrets... and because I'm deep underground there's never an occasion where the screamer spots me through walls and gets off a scream before dying.

I don't forsee any changes to world height.

Nodes are now more random in size. Sometimes you find a small one, and sometimes they are really huge.
Yep. I found one that was a single block once I got past the 2x2 pillar that goes through the dirt layers. FML.

Just for reference, unless it is part of a POI, there was most likely know more there. Sometimes it is hard to see, but it is there. Terrain sometimes blends with ore, making it look like just terrain even though there is ore there.

I mined out a couple levels below. No ore. Was very, very strange.

Odd. I've seen ones that appeared to not have anything, but actually did. I've never found any that weren't part of a POI that didn't have ore under them, though. Maybe the new randomness for ore veins, where some can be large and some small, has either a bug or just no minimum size, allowing for some to not have ore.
