Why No Windmills

I have always had a thought. With all the items that can be crafted, Crafting tables, forge, drawbridge. Why no windmills for early game electricity… very low power, maybe high material cost… but something early game to get you going

Because most everybody does windmills in the "survival game" space? Who knows?

Know what I love most about the Subnautica IP? It's striving hard to be different. Unfortunately, most people refuse to allow it to be different.

I'm sure TFP have thought about it, but it just wouldn't work, otherwise they would of added em to farm POI's in the towns.

Weird flex. so as an “Engineer” you can understand why I said low

thats pretty much the point of why I said low electricity and high cost. Windmills in fact can be converted… windmills and small scale turbines would both give low amounts either way. Thought windmill fit better due to game settings🤷🤷🤷

Regardless of whether or not a "windmill" would normally be used to generate electricity, this is a game and games often have windmills for electricity, not just wind turbines. So I think the majority of players will not care and would like the alternate power source. I see not problem with it.

Would you care to elaborate on why it wouldn't work? It is certainly something they can do. All it takes is an art asset and setting that new block up as a source of power with a specific value for the amount of power it produces and setting up a recipe to craft it. Just because they haven't added it doesn't mean that it won't work or they can't add it. They may just not want to have another power source.

I am an engineer and I work in EVs. Expect an engineer to use the correct terms.
I was chief officer, chief engineer and worked in petrochemical industrie before I switched to inspections. Until you revealed yourself I did indeed expect engineers to use the correct definition.

I was President of the United States of America, and adsvahae bwahhsllrrr nonshensh... anyway... where's the exit?

Welcome mister president.
He replied to me, thank you for protecting me but it was not needed to get involved.
By the way, is there any chance you would take your job a bit more sreious? The world is getting a bit messy lately...

I would have said wind power at player scale wouldn't produce enough power to be meaningful, but I do watch a YouTube channel of a person who has mostly solar but a small wind turbine on their boat to get some benefit. The game doesn't really get into exacting realism, so I wouldn't really mind if there was some small scale wind powered generation.

What I'd really like to see is enough structural integrity that I could put blades on my Wind Turbine POI rather than just broken pieces at the base.

It's basically free energy. The components would be something like an engine, mechanical parts, electrical parts and either forged iron/steel or tons of plastic. I should produce like 50 watts, and generate heat.

That would be my recipe.
