PC Why is there still nothing in the game that can keep you dry?

The only discussion I've seen about this is from several months back. Since the poncho was removed with the original removal of the temp and clothing systems, nothing has been added to replace it.

I'm currently wearing T4 Thermacore undergarments and have the advanced insulated armour mod in all 4 pieces. I still start to freeze in the forest when it rains or the snow biome when it is snowing.

The blurriness encroaching on the screen is really, really, annoying. As is the constant whining from my character. Not to mention the hunger drain associated with it.

Running into a building is not the answer. It rains for half the day sometimes.

Any plans to actually provide something that will keep the character dry again?

Cheers.

Good point. You had the poncho as well as the puffer jacket and the duster. Only thing in the game now besides the under garments and armor mods is holding a torch or tool with flame mod or standing next to a camp fire 🔥.

Are all the top tier under garments supposed to eventually make you completely immune to cold/heat?

Agreed.

However, the insulation mods and undergarments just adjust the temperature range at which debuffs occur. At level 4 Thermocore and advanced Insulation mods, I am not sure debuffs are easily achievved. Further, not sure I am a fan of 100% envirnmental protection beign achievable...

Weird. That's not my experience.
Did you start a new game with 2.6 or is it an older save?

I've only been having temperature effects in the beginning, when I didn't have quality undergarments, but now I'm basically almost immune to mild temperature variations (not talking about the Snow, which makes sense to make you freeze).

I'm not a fan of 100% protection, Challenging biomes are supposed to have some variety otherwise, what's the point of the temperature? Just for a few days of gameplay? It works for the forest but not for the others; it would be like a button to turn off the temperature.

Honestly, I'd prefer being able to be 100% temperature proof. I don't care about the in-game effects, but the crap all over the screen is annoying.

The cowboy hat and the duster would have been nicely waterproof if they were still in the game. I once dated a young lady who grew up on a ranch and she described how they were designed to funnel the rain off the hat, down the duster, and off of the horse.

I do find it odd that the character suffers in the Forest with the T4 gear.

In the snow I'm of mixed feelings. We're not really wearing any truly warm gear, so getting cold still seems appropriate. I mean, BDUs/fatigues and thermal underwear wouldn't keep you warm out in the elements. The puffer coat would begin to change that.

I could be okay with a character achieving 100% cold protection under the game's worse conditions, but to do that I'd like to see the player put on all that T4 under-gear, the best insulation mods and waterproof mods, or maybe two layers of insulation mods, onto all of their armor pieces. To reach that level. Or maybe they could make a "Cold Weather" armor variant.

An on/off setting would be cool, but a control with steps between on and off would be my preference.

It's also odd to be in the snow biome at -10C and when it starts snowing you quickly become 100% wet. At -10C you get wet from sweating (too much exertion/insulation), not from snow.

I would like it if the visual effect was separated from the temperature. For example, if you wear a hat with a brim, you shouldn't see the visual effects of rain, but you would still be cold.

EDIT: But I could see why TFP wouldn't want to do that. Absent the ability of games to give you the qualia of feeling cold, the only way to communicate that to the player is through audio/visual effects.

A missing wind shield in the snow biome would be really cold.

It never seemed like it was that noticeable to me, though maybe something changed in 2.6 since I haven't played that version yet? With maxed out clothing and only a few mods installed for temperature, I never seem to get cold in the forest and only get cold in the snow biome if it's one of the storms that bring temps down as far as possible. Even then, it's such a minor thing that I don't even notice it. I don't mind that you can't be 100% protected. I don't think I was even getting cold in the forest when it rained from about the second tier of clothing, though I didn't pay a lot of attention to it.

For example, if you wear a hat with a brim, you shouldn't see the visual effects of rain, but you would still be cold.
Not saying I disagree about separating them, but why wouldn't you see the visual effect of rain just because you have a hat brim? The only thing a hat brim does is keep you from occasionally (it's rather rare) getting hit in the eye with a raindrop and to keep rain from running into your eyes, which doesn't really have much visual effect beyond blinking or not seeing for a second as you wipe your eyes. The rest of the visual effect of rain would be there regardless of a hat brim. And if we're talking about the visual effect of being cold, a hat brim definitely doesn't keep you warm. Of course, being cold doesn't exactly cause a visual effect in the first place... not unless you are so cold you're blacking out.

Personally, I hope there is an option in 3.0 to disable those screen border effects for cold/etc. I don't like them or need them.

Because it's immersive. No other reason.

Also, in my edit, I acknowledged that this probably isn't a workable game option - because in order to be "immersive" the game would have to mimic non-visual and non-audio human qualia, which is currently not possible. So feel free to ignore that post.
