PC Why are people saying this patch is so hard?

I've seen a lot of posts saying that this patch is too hard or that their are too many zombies and other things like this. I'm finding this patch to be the easiest one so far. The zombies are so easy to kill that it is ridiculous. When wandering hordes come they usually come at me in a single file straight line. Even if they spread out it is not hard at all to get them all together in a group again. The houses are really easy as well. Go into a room and it is pretty obvious where the zombies are going to come from.

Just aggro them and go back through the door you just came through. They will walk through the door and make them a lot easier to kill. Focus on runners first of course. They are the only real threat. The only thing that is making this patch difficult is the freezing that the game is constantly doing. Most of this play through I have just used a quality 1 wooden club. No real reason to improve over that. I would love to see them increase the zombie counts and make things even harder.

What difficulty are you on, and what day is it?
That's kind of what I was thinking. Currently, I play on Adventurer and Never Run and it's not that difficult as long as I watch my surroundings in POIs and the like. But that's just so I got used to the new systems. I hear on Insane and Always Run, it's a nightmare.

How many gameplay hours do you have though? Most games aren't going to be challenging if you have many hours.

Well i go standard difficulty and welcome the challange. I dont even mind the deathpenalty as it was my fault dieing. Many cry around and are dooming the game- cant relate to that i have a blast playing solo.

Venturing through the pois and Surviving properly due to the hunger/thirstmechanix now is awesome.

Although i found out how a new stiltbasesystem still works, its pretty funny how i figured that out actually.

Well i plan on working out other ways to deal with 7th horde. Got 450hours so far but i play very sporadic and am alive kicking since a5.

Semi-related question - I haven't been able to play A17 much but my two of my three lives ended pretty quickly in two large, very linear POI's where I was just overwhelmed by sheer numbers.

One was an apartment complex with lots of traps and convenient holes/ducts leading you on a path ... the floor collapsed and I ended up in a closed apartment with 15-20 zombies (!)

The other was a generic factory with little loot but with a vault door that again led you through a long gauntlet of zombies. Again the floor collapsed on me and I ended up in very long, maze like waterway full of zombies

I'm guessing these were dungeons but they were among the first POI's I encountered. Are dungeons that common or was I just unlucky? Are dungeons obviously signposted or surprise occurrences? My first impression of A17 was I gotta watch my step! :) Definitely avoiding larger POI's at early levels from now on

I think it's hard on the harder difficulties, but not too hard. I think it's some people aren't keen to change and let it cloud their creativity and tactics. A16 was spoiling in easy-mode, so I guess there's that. Zombies couldn't figure out or notice you 10 feet away from them and then got stuck on a chair or a pile of garbage. And when they did fight you, you could stand still and take hits while whacking them lol.

I recently survived my first horde night and I was so nervous prepping for it because I was thinking it was going to be bad and I was going to die a lot. But when it came around I only really got scared when the zombies tore through the spikes immediately. Moving around counters that and I had a lot of fun shooting the zombies with my bow and AK. Thank you TFP for making the game awesome.
