PC Who lets the screamer scream

i used to let screamers scream even in older alphas, for fun.
Screamer brought friends this time, I guess maybe there is a chance to summon friends when they scream now? Not sure.

I used to farm these for items in A16.

Now I farm these in A17 for exp or just fun.

They don't scream as easily ... well... unless you walk up to them and whack them a little.

I think they broke screamers or something. Even if I see one they don't summon a horde when they scream *shrug*
Broke, or made better?

I like the crazy loop. Sure it can be a nuisance, but at the same time you should not be trying to attract zombies.

Good to know, I'll have to check out ZNation. Don't watch too much on YT, but will definitely check it out. Thanks!
He's pretty incredible. I was just watching his latest restart and he was farming screamers until he had like 10 screamers at once. He must have had 70-80 z's on the screen at one time. The most damage he took was from walking over a few cacti while doing the slaying. I think he got close to 10 lvls that half day farming session. Once he gets to late game is where he truly shines tho. Some of the most amazing builds I've even seen.

Yup and for those who want to max level quickly and farm zeds.... that's the way!

One suggestion, however.... if you're running on an older comp maybe turn down some settings first.

Just a thought.

A couple less FPS doesn't seem like much till you've got 50+ zeds to deal with and some dogs show up.

Prior to this patch (I havent experimented with it yet ) if you placed objects into a forge to actually "Forge"/smelt the heat index would increase rapidly, as opposed to simply running it , which is why most players who want to farm zeds early via heat likely don't understand the relation between summoning the screamers and when they just wont stop appearing when you're trying to go about your business.

I wonder what the fastest way to generate heat is.

Just burning wood pieces or is there something better?

I mean like, I hit day 28 on my last run and I didn't get a single screamer :( Maybe two forges isn't enough? I may have missed em. I had two screamers show up in my latest run, and I tried to keep them alive off of my spikes and they screamed but nothing happened. Idk lol. Got enough zoms in the POIs so I didnt worry about it.

Just put stone rocks into the forges to smelt, as long as something is being processed it generates heat, as far as what difference in heat is generated per materials I think they are all the same.

Many many patches ago we experimented with this by making literally 30+ campfires and never getting screamers, which confused us at first since usually we turn on something to cook or forge and they're at the surface of the base scratching away with that ear piercing howl.

(Don't get me started on how insane Spider Zeds drove me)

I did some experimentation and just by using 2 forges and cooking rock in it, consistently got me the screamers I wanted.

I think the reason for this is when the resources are all cooked, any wood still burning due to overfill time won't produce heat since nothing is being generated, the point of heat was to limit players from excessively producing materials, and being "Loud" in general, (augers/chainsaw/rocket launchers, mines, ect, all those generated tons of heat quickly)

Today in MP heat is still an effective tool in locating other players that are underground, though its at the players fault, so if you see signs of zed damage or see screamers randomly, chances are, there is a base nearby and they are clawing away to it.

Um, campfires produce heat just fine without producing anything as proven by watching it on video with ZNation. So do forges set to burn with nothing in them. So do torches that don't produce anything either. There's absolutely zero need to produce anything to create heat. Hell Z just did it and had screamers within about 15 in game minutes of stating up the campfires.

So my guess it pieces of wood still generate the fastest heat right?

Each piece has a heat number attached to it.

You'd want the most heat with the quickest burn.

I don't normally have problems getting screamers, just wondering what's the fastest way if, say, you're build a special area to fight screamers hordes, to bring on the screamers.

Guess I'll just stick to wood.

Maybe that's why I had a lack of screamers, I have grown accustomed to crafting wood logs and using them for almost infinite burn time

Yeah same.

Best bang for your buck, sorta thing... that was.... until I saw doors give the exact same.

So now I burn those just cuz.

No real reason other than TFP will some day nerf them and I won't be able to

Yeah lol. I like chairs too for early game. Seems silly to me, those things cant fit in the campfire or forges hehe. But then again, a normal person can't fit 100 tons of concrete blocks and open-bowls of meat stew that don't spill in their backpack lmao so it gets a pass there

Yeah, they're pretty oblivious right now. My friends and I always provoke her when we can, but half the time these days she doesn't seem to care at all. And if she even touches a spike, she dies.

Of course, half the time she only summons like 3 guys now. The other half she summons the endless screamer loop.

Weird. I had a hunch a new build was soon so in my last one I started summoning screamers (normal, feral, rad) and some screamed and nothing happened. *shrug* experimental hehe
