PC Who is the best trader for you to start with?

It seems like it doesn't matter for me. They all eventually get around to having a crossbow for me to buy or, even better, as a job reward, and then my journey to the dark side is complete.

 
Yeh, doesn't really matter at all.. same quests, same water filters. Eventually same rewards. Jen's nice to look at, but also a part of the furniture by now ..

 
The only reason it might matter is if your playstyle is one where you would need to buy stuff from the trader and need specific items one trader is more likely to have - food, medicine, etc.

 
I'm kinda stuck between Joel and Hugh myself.  But, for newer players, I'd recommend Jen for having medical supplies.

 
I don't know why all the traders don't just get together and start a mini mall. One stop shopping :D

Sounds like a good mod.  :D

And then when you get the open trade routes quests, you'll be told to head two stalls down.  Lol!

Bob is my clear favourite.

I rarely buy weapons and armor off of traders and he has those to some degree.

What I look for early to mid game are electricity / workstation / trap / vehicle books and parts and he has all of that, including a higher chance for crucibles and vehicle parts.

 
I was a bit concerned by the announcement that the traders will be more specialized, because then it would have a big impact early game what you would get from them (fitting your preferred playstyle or not).

But I have to say this wasn't the case at all, they all seem to have the same amount of the "common necessary stuff",

I couldn't feel any significant specialization at all...which is fine I guess.

So my preferred trader is just decided by - let's say secondary attributes.

I even put a note on my workbench to remind myself why I prefer to visit her.
