Which Trader would survive the longest in an apocalypse?

What does it have to do with this thread? this is a member of TFP staff taking a poll, but, they are asking about something that is inconsequential to the game. seems kinda tone deaf after just having a Town Hall.
This isn't a poll. There is no way to track answers or gather information. It is simply a question to spark conversation and talk about something fun and possibly make jokes and be friendly. It's very community manager like-- which is what you are constantly jonesing for...

Pokketninja is definitely staff. She is not a developer or programmer but she is definitely staff and has a role on the community side of the business. The gold lettering isn't an accident.

Have to go with Hugh. Guy killed a bear and by the looks of his face he did it with melee. Also because he has all the weapon and ammo stuff.

Rekt is hopefully the first to get killed. That´s the first mod to look for when playing, replacing him with Olivia who has the voice lines from Jen.

I'd have to say Hugh, I believe he's the one in the snow biome. He has the best base. His base could better withstand a zombie onslaught than any other trader

In an apocalypse scenario, meaning not just zombies but also bandits and they don't have invincible walls-

-Rekt is too enticing and obvious a target to hit for food; he'd survive in a void, but he'd get taken out by the living

-Jen's got a less-inviting garden to work with food-wise and can barter with people using medical knowledge as an asset, the kind of asset that even bandits wouldn't try to kidnap her for because everyone else needs medical too - and as the military saying goes, "don't touch Doc". The chainlink fence, though, eegh...

-Joel's gonna get cancer within a month

-Hugh... yeah, he's probably good. Good wall, at least blueberries are plentiful in his area, coal if nothing else for warmth, plus his enormous tracts of... land-based firepower. Speaking from experience, however, I know that frostclaws can chuck boulders over very tall walls with pinpoint accuracy that can wipe out 4 dew collectors at once, so... his biome would get him, maybe not as fast as Joel, but it would.

-Bob's probably a good underdog, his outpost looks flimsy but vehicles are extremely good against zombies and he'll have a similar knowledge-asset value to Jen. Plus he's got ton of gas, he'd figure out a flamethrower eventually and then those insect swarms are just a bad smell in the heat.

I'd figure Bob, then Jen, then Hugh, in order of how long they'd survive.

"Survive" or "survive as shown"?

Jen would probably survive because she's a doctor, but whether she'd be running a trading post or not depends on how dark the apocalypse gets.

Hugh lives in an area with Frostclaws, so his walls would probably be battered down and overrun in a week.

Bob would probably be infected by a Plague Spitter's insects, and Joel's in the Wasteland so would likely die of radiation poisoning eventually.

Rekt would probably make a deal with the Bandits, protection for food, and since he's in the Forest, he'd be relatively safe, eventually dying of liver disease, alcohol poisoning or a heart attack in his old(er) age.

No offence, but, i kinda hoped TFP would have started asking us questions about the game. Or be open to discussing things from Pimp Dreams with us in a thread as actual participants. I know some people don't want to hear it, but, they could use some work on their public image. Baring an absolute miracle, I am pretty sure that "we" are only getting 2.0 in 2025. That is the entire length of the road map.The Flu made a pretty good suggestion in a different thread about keeping 3.0 back in a private or very limited experimental branch until it is not only feature complete, but, play tested and adjusted. The Road Map is already broken and not getting updated. why not break it a little more to try and make it a better experience? People cry at every update about game breaks...why not avoid that? People could have a stable version to play on for awhile, seeing a lot of positives...open to hearing why it isn't. But, if TFP don't ever see it...it is another useless conversation by people who really are passionate about the game and it succeeding.
This is just something fun I thought we could have a conversation with. TFP is currently working on changes with provided feedback that we have received.

I am sorry, if I caused you any distress. I will not comment on any of your posts in the future. I did not intend this to be personal to you in any way.
I still feel the same way about all of this, but, my complaint is not with you. It would be nice if the pimps would come on here. The road map is broken and it ain't getting updated. The entire length of the road map is almost gone...and we got a third of the game. The least they could do is start coming on here themselves. imo

Which trader would survive longest/best?

Hugh. For sure. Big walls, and guns behind them Plenty of meat for the hunting. Scary dude.

Bob. Bob will last for a while no doubt, but that desert sun done cooked his brain.

Jen. Jen's knowledge of medicine makes her very useful, I just hope she'd have the firepower to keep the bandits at bay.

Rekt. Rekt will live harder than all of them put together with whatever time he has left.. But I think he hits the booze too hard, bandits would find him hungover.

Joel. Poor Joel, we all know spending that much time in the wasteland is bad for you.

Dark side thought

Trader 4Sheetz:
The rest are toast depending on how invaluable they can make themselves to me.
If the end goal is self survival the bosses are going to have to go. There can be only One.

Why? None of them have an active metal detector, or Bulletproof glass between you and them,
or secondary check room, or require you to leave your weapons in a check room. No automated
turrets when a weapon is drawn and put in their face. No background two way radio chatter between
them and their boss to state who is coming or going. No timed snapshots. No additional protective
staff. Basically their security sucks to be in such a volatile environment.

They are easily intimidated by a magnum, but not provoked, impressed by a cigar, and hypnotized
by certain armor. Their shared mannerism emulate flibbertigibbets, that have no dedicated signs or
postings of declaration for either side. That infers timid behavior. It also infers that they gravitate
toward strength. Their only exhibited defenses are verbal and psychological.

Considering the length of time they had to build their encampment you would expect them to have more
automated armaments that clear a close proximity of zombies, if they don't trust having staff.

The most destructive, potentially duplicitous, selfish, and concerned for self survival, entity in the
apocalypse is the player. Zombies and animals don't get agitated unless the player messes with them.
Otherwise they just folic around, or sleep like a bunch of cats.

But if I had to choose one to accompany me on this slow trudge to imminent and eventual death it would
be Trader Jen. She has medical experience-ish and a more tolerable conversational prose .

I swear it would be just for the conversation.

What kind of posts would you like to see in the future? TFP are reading, listening to feedback, and had the stream with the town hall to share changes. There has been updates with fixing the things based on the feedback. Sometimes they don't get it right, but they are trying. It is also hard to create a game where everyone is happy with every single thing in the game. Each person has their own opinion on what they want in the game.

I want to help try to be the bridge to communicate with the community/creators and relay the feedback to the team.

I sincerely wish you good luck and I hope you have great success.

That's a big question: what kind of posts would I like to see in the future?
I'd like to see Rick and Joel do a real town hall. Where the questions are actually solicited from here on the forum. I'd like to see an update to the road map, or, Since the game is so far behind, a monthly rough update on progress. I'd really like them to talk about why they thought they could meet the original road map timings. I do not expect any of that to happen, but, thank you for asking.
