My experience digging out veins of gravel is that they can make some interesting cavern complexes.

All they would need to do to create better caves is generate some of the gravel patches with some of the gravel removed.

I voted for water, because boats.

I voted for underground POIs and caves.

I would still want boats, fishing and basic water vegetation but i think it's more believable/immersive to go looking for shelter or loot underground rather then in a bottom of a lake.

And there are plenty of cool underground POIs i could think of, what's underwater? Pirate gold? :D

And, underground challenges > zombie fish.

Again people.

We already have /something/ to do underground, albeit not ideal, but we have /nothing/ to do in water.

Giving us something to do in water is a value add. Giving us something different to do underground adds nothing.

Vote for water. Because it's the right choice.

PM ronald to change your vote.

I think you're being very demanding that we change our vote to fit your ideal! QUIT VERBALLY ABUSING US!! :playful:

Tin <- still wants both :p

*for those who are unsure.. I am playing around* ;)

All things considered if water remains undeveloped I won't really care... but a fully developed underground experience is something I really want to see. So... :p

Water for me, because as far as I'm concerned, the underground is "fleshed out" enough to be able to do stuff (you can build there, you can mine, you can etc...) but the water is currently wasted because it's just "there".
You can build underwater too... Fill your mines with water if you want underwater mining. :p

:D

I want better water and boats and stuff but underwater POIs... How many would there be? What useful would you find there?

We already have breath holding, i'm pretty sure it's easy to add functional diving gear with the new buff system.

Fleshing out rng caves, underground threats and adding bunch of POIs created by the new POI buiding crew (maybe not all dungeon style though), seems more appealing to me. I'm thinking more people would explore this content vs the waterworld...

I'm still leaning towards underground, but feel free to convince me the other way. I just can't imagine lots of underwater content that would make sense in 7d2d.

if a seed had little water all the work on the water biome would be wasted, undergroud biome applies in every seed

moreover caves and underground biome could solve the problem of safety underground that plague the forum every alpha :)

I voted water, but with shame must admit I did so without reading the OP. I would change my vote to underground if it mean we as a bare minimum had working water.

I voted water. I like the idea of having boats and needing to explore new, established places. If someone chooses not to dig, then they wont be missing anything. If you want a heavy water game, check your seed and play. If you hate water, check the seed and play. Pick your battle.

Personally, I feel there is enough to do underground that it doesn't need much. Also, I am not a fan of everyone getting mad that people choose to play underground if they want. It's their time they are spending, not yours.

There is this other argument:

I'm not going underground because it's boring, no challenge. If there was challenge and it was different from the above ground, i'd have whole new playground to explore. (new base designs to test)

It's not about ruining the fun others but getting some cool gameplay for myself.

Underground 100%
If the water is gonna stay basically worthless tweak the .xml's so there isnt large massive bodies of it. Make any large body of water spawn as a " swamp" so alligators and snakes can be added as threats. Small lakes you can see across with alot of small rivers/streams intertwined to use the boats.

Swampish POI's could also be added to spice up those areas.
Love the swamp idea, really love the concept of a connected river system, but I would want these in addition to large lakes not instead of them. I will craft an inflatable raft from hog bladders and paddle across, no biggie.

I would really like to see caves though. An old mine shaft full of rusted out equipment, leading to a huge endless cave system. It would be great place for loot, mining and scary surprises. And since we're down there, I would also like to lay track and build mine carts and handcars to make a proper mine. It never sat well with me to have hundreds of pounds of ore in my backpack. But I digress...

Short answer: Both. Sorry.

My vote for underground is perfectly fine, thanks.
mine too...

couple alphas ago people bitched about too much water... now they want more water... go figure and next they'll be wanting unlimited air space to fly into space with rocket ships we dont have...

i also vote we get some damn piranha and sharks.

:) evolution... sooner or later it had to happen! but i still have cravings for bananas. :)

I'm imagining a sunken town where you can go explore, only to have to fend off alligators, water logged zombies, and of course be prepared for a dive. These towns would have different and more exciting loot, as they have not been picked clean by the survivors before you and although rusted, the items themselves could add unique loot lists to the typical "doorknob" experience we get now.

But also, and this is directed at you people who want to make the lives of those who like underground living hard, think of it this way...

...right now your major complaint is there is very little challenge to living underground; that you're safe from hordes and most dangers... but the truth is, there are NO dangers to floating on a lake during horde night, so shouldn't you want to punish THOSE people more?

Vote for water, because it's the right thing to do.
