Question:

1. Is there a lore explaining where the supply crate/drop comes from? Are they off island? Does that mean they came from thriving/surviving world already (since they keep giving supplies), and somehow can't enter/land on our island cause of natural barriers (radiation, etc)?

2. I am having a hard time to track where are the new updates are and when the new updates will come (tried twitter and forum, but cant find exact link to it.) Please help. Will we have to absolutely start new map with new version ?

1. Probably will come along with the rest of the story that hasn't been added yet. Core game features need to be closer to finished before you start working on the story.

2. Always in News & Announcements. They will come when they are ready, and are rarely announced ahead of time.

Since this is a game in Alpha development, major build changes (i.e. a17 to a18) will require wipes. Minor build changes (i.e. a18.2 to a18.3) don't always require a wipe, but it is highly recommended because you'll have bugs if you don't.

As the game gets closer to Beta, the wiping will become less frequent, but is still always recommended between builds.

1. True, so far they didn't add any real story updates, except just a bits of part here and there (i.e: Hospitals that has speciment containers, zombie being on a operating table, zombie bags being added on hospitals)

2. Alright thanks for the info!

This is another good point to use for a lore which for this very game could be something rich. I fear anyway that... the plot is actually under the risk of not being developed as it deserves: it seems to me that some way it is underestimated the commiment 'needed' to design a good story. My impression, maybe I'm wrong and I hope so, is that TFP intends to add the plot as last step such as something very easy to add. As far as I know if you plan to have a plot the best results are reached by considering a plot since the beginning of a project not just something in the end. Here follows some facts reporting how much a story could add to a game:

- horizon zero dawn: game centered on the plot which has a dedicated team to design and plan it. For sure you'll cry while living this story.

- mass effect: plot so well designed that supports three games and not just the first which is the top of the three.

- subnautica: fascinating story designed before the game and so powerful that can support even the imminent 2nd game.

- fallout new vegas: arguably the best fallout. Not so different as mechanics from other fallout but it is enriched by an interesting story.

- baldur's gate: thrilling story which gives to this game the higher seat among all its competitors similar but empty.

...and many more but I guess my point is described as needed :)
