Statement 1:

"I think that one whole year without any updates or bugfixes are too long."

Am I wrong? Well, I have no career in either marketing, programming or anything related to this. But I dont think it is positive that there are nothing actually happening for the players over 12 months. I wonder if this is a strategy made by TFP, or just something that "came to be".

I hold this statement regardless of wether it was an EA game or not. 7D2D is a very popular game, but I think you would hold on to peoples interest alitlte bit better if there was some new bells and whistles every now and then?
The long cycle came about because TFP asked the forum once if they wanted longer or shorter cycles. I assume they listed a lot of advantages and disadvantages and the forum users voted for longer cycles. For the developers longer cycles are better because they can tackle big changes without having to keep two versions of the game up-to-date (one to release, one to have the big change in unfinished state). For modders longer cycles are better because you don't need to update the mod so often. Players also don't need to restart as often. Naturally there are disadvantages too, one you have listed.

Question 1:

Empyrion has been used as an example many times before in this forum: They are constantly throwing out updates with small bugfixes and new features in an experimental branch people can subscribe to, if the stable feels too slow. Sometimes the experimental is riddled with bugs, but interesting new features.

Could I ask why this is not a good idea for 7D2D?

Couldn't this be a good way of giving the playerbase a feeling that the game is making progress, giving the players a feeling they are contributing by helping testing things out, giving feedback, etc.
As it seems TFP want to enter beta soon the question becomes moot. It may well be that there is no A18 or A18 is relatively short.

But about "giving the players a feeling that they are contributing"? Sorry, I don't think the players have paid to be pampered. The players deserve a great game (that's what they paid for), not a side show entertainment programm or a weekly laudatio by the developer. Or pats on the head for useless feedback and bug reports. Yes, both can be useless, for example when the same bug gets reported again and again or when feedback is about unfinished and unbalanced features.

I personally want 2 things from EA, new versions to try out from time to time (and I don't care how much time that is, I have lots of other hobbies) and honest open communication from the developers.

That is a serious situation. I give it a class 3 OMG level emergency!

Checking my AL-Inclusive emergency manual...

1) Assuming you have seen all the well know TV series:

a- Hard Sun - An interesting apocalypse twist.

b- Lucky Man - An interesting twist to... everything.

c- Justified - Another twist on a sheriff series.

2) Reading - There are just too many good books out there.

3) Examine why you are bored - an inner journey is always interesting.

Thats all I have for class 3 OMG's

And i thought the best ones are available as movie or tv show ^^

@1 interesting suggestions will give Hard sun a try

@3

Salt, flour and many many bacterial farts. More bread than interesting.

I have the opposite problem. Got 100 games in my Steam library I haven't touched yet. I have a humble bundle subscription, but I just keep coming back to this game.

Possible... but I think the new about the NVidia release long before probably
It was a joke. TFP was delayed for a graphics upgrade; Battlefield 5 was dela...

Never mind.
