Went looking through General Discussion and couldn't find anything on the topic. Any word on bringing E to pick up things back? So ya know, ya don't lose half your crop to a double swing?
They would have to eliminate Living Off the Land if E came back so don't count on it.Went looking through General Discussion and couldn't find anything on the topic. Any word on bringing E to pick up things back? So ya know, ya don't lose half your crop to a double swing?

I don't see why that is. Living Off The Land yielded better crops per harvest. All you would really need to do is ensure it only applies to player grown crops and bada bing. Just better grabbing and less annoyance. Pretty sure there are already different block ID's for the player grown plants and POI plants. Not 100% sure, but I think there are... Don't see how that makes Living Off the Land any different. They would have to eliminate Living Off the Land if E came back so don't count on it.
Thanks! Rarely use mods myself. Though they're fun to make now and then. These mods fix your problem. Enjoy![]()

You already can't pick up rocks next to the trader, pretty sure the crops wouldn't be pickable. The biggest issue with E for picking up crops, is because they don't want you harvesting crops from the traders.
They were in A16, I think it's because it didn't destroy the crop, just removed the veg from the plant. You already can't pick up rocks next to the trader, pretty sure the crops wouldn't be pickable.
I don't think that's it persay. They could just remove crops from the traders if that was a problem. And there is tons of crop out in the wild that can be nabbed even today. So not sure if that's the issue. The biggest issue with E for picking up crops, is because they don't want you harvesting crops from the traders.
I would guess the larger issue is that now it costs stamina to farm.... and it should. Before, it didn't.The biggest issue with E for picking up crops, is because they don't want you harvesting crops from the traders.
It should cost stamina to hoe the ground sure. But I've actually spent weeks picking strawberry's, picking green beans, by hand. And no... No it it shouldn't if you're trying to be a realist. It shouldn't come anywhere near the stamina usage we have in A17 and it shouldn't be hitting stamina at all.I would guess the larger issue is that now it costs stamina to farm.... and it should. Before, it didn't.
If doesn't if you use your bare hands to farm.I would guess the larger issue is that now it costs stamina to farm.... and it should. Before, it didn't.
Hitting something with your bare hands doesn't consume enough stamina for you to get tired. That's why gathering grass and flowers in the forest offers one of the most efficient XP gain methods in the beginning. Who would have thought? You don't harvest when you pick something up, so Jax's point still stands.
You have to hit something to harvest it.
Or code it in the xml's so the player planted plant is a diffrent entry in the xml compared to wild plants, then you could have E to pick up wild crops (Tato's, corn, aloe, yucca, coffee, cotton, goldenrod, etc), and have to punch player planted. Should be doable, they just decided to get lazy and do it this way. There is a mod though as someone said to let you pick up plants with E, however, it also effects player planted ones so you need to remember to punch those. They would have to eliminate Living Off the Land if E came back so don't count on it.
I find it really annoying personally. I don't see what you like about it.There is nothing to fix as the change was intentional. Personally I like it much better.
Waaaait is this part of the whole texture streaming revamp then? They converted plants to blocks? Huh.It doesn’t work that way anymore. All plants are blocks. If you pick it up then you have the plant BLOCK and not the ITEM. You would have to add recipes to convert blocks to items. Or something.
