What top mods are your favorite?

What are your top mods that you play with in V2.0?
When I first started, just more backpack space and xml mods so I could learn and see
how to do it correctly. Then Medieval book, and Dust's environmental, and Fantasy.
Now Overhauls because I like to see how others perceive the game, since it was built
to be amorphous. I love visuals art and terraforming.

Forgot to add Rebirth for the sweep and clear, Forsaken trail for the environment.

It is a good question, what about you, and why?

My absolute favorite *new* mod right now is Rainstorm by Laydor. It's pure eye candy but I love it. Replaces the vanilla weather systems and skyboxes with dynamic, volumetric clouds and volumetric atmospheric effects, like fog and haze. Combined with the Better Lighting mod by Byteblazar it just blows me away how good it makes the game look.

Here are the main ones I use, in no particular order. I also have some I've made that I use, but none are anything major.
  • Vehicle Madness so I have more variety in vehicles around the map. Being able to drive more vehicles is a bonus, but the variety of what you see is the main thing for me.
  • Izayo's gun mod as it adds a lot more guns (and some melee weapons) to choose from and they are very high quality with really nice animations.
  • ZZTong's Prefabs modlet as he makes some really great POI that fit in so well with vanilla POI that you often can't tell if the POI is his or TFP's. His tiles also add a lot more variety to towns.
  • Arramus' Old West Migration as it adds a lot of really nice POI to old west towns to fill out the very limited number of POI for those.
  • Pyro Paints to add a lot more paints to use in the game.
  • ByteBlazar's No Texture Streaming mod to remove all the blurry textures if you're using mods that add a lot of extra assets. It works great to prevent blurry textures when using something like Vehicle Madness or Dashu's Trees or other similar mods.
  • FluffyPanda's Mega Mall because it is fun to have a lot of POI in a very small space and he's made a lot of great art assets that you can use.
  • AH64_Jimbo's Airport because it's a great full-sized airport. I don't use this all the time just because it takes up so much space, but I do enjoy it.
  • OCB Light Enabler so I can turn on/off any lights in the game, letting me add various lights from the creative menu to my base and still turn them on or off even if they don't have a powered option. If all the lights in the game could be crafted and had a powered option, that wouldn't be needed.
  • Dashu's Trees is a nice mod for adding more kinds of trees and plants to the forest and desert, but I hadn't been using it because it made vanilla trees and plants blurry. Now that I have ByteBlazar's mod (above), I plan to use this mod at some point, though I'll remove certain trees or plants that don't fit the location and remove seeds for most of them.
If jars are added to the loot tables, I'll have to add a mod to remove those once again.

Does this mod also allow you to see the enabler menu, to adjust intensity of the lights?
Because I have been looking for one that allows me to see the controller again.

Mods that put back what was lost. Things like LBD, farming on the ground, log spikes, barb wire etc. If I'm loading individual mods, I usually start with a backpack mod and Rekt replacer.

Related but a slight redirect. Do you ever forsee mods being available for console or is it not doable because consoles can't support xml files? I'm playing on Xbox.

I have a blast just playing the vanilla game. Mods would open up a whole new world for console players.

QuickStack is very quickly growing on me
10-Stage Health Bar Color is such a simple but effective thing
KhaineGB's 15-Slot Toolbelt because goshdangit, opening the inventory to swap a tool in and out is a hassle, I like having all my tools in the toolbar ready to go. Also functions as a sort of +5 inventory space, I guess, but I use it for tool convenience

Honorable mentions to Bdubs Vehicles and JaxTeller718's Working Devices even though the latter I've spent the most time cutting down and editing it to keep it working so I can have stoves and a coffee machine. For Aesthetics™.

Next new solo game I do I'll be adding zzTong's POIs and IZY-AIO Gun Pack (+
Mega City on next co-op with SO, game performance allowing). I'll need more time with Rainstorm to have a verdict on it, but it's looking positive so far.

Also the 3-4 or so mods I have that increase zombie spawns 10-15x for a faux-L4D2 feeling, that's pretty consequential I guess

I am loving the variety of using 0-Score. With a little xml editing, I can get Destructible Traders, Fire, Craft from containers, and so much more.
I also like to add Izy's Weapon Pack and Vehicle Madness for more weapon and vehicle variety.
And TMO's Wandering Horde mod is great, too, since I get tired of tiny hordes pretty quickly.

Zero, I play on console. I haven't put it on my gaming laptop and probably wont ever. I do enjoy reading about all the mods you PC's get to play with tho. Keep em coming with good descriptions! :ROFLMAO:

Also I'm amazed I haven't seen someone mention anything about a chicken coop yet!

I have never used a mod on this game, on my PC version it will always stay vanilla, and of course on my PS5 version, it will never see a mod either lol

I use GNSs beautiful bases mod that allows picking up various items in the wild for use in one's base. I now have a room dedicated to showing my collection of ham radios. :)
QuickStack has become one of my favs, along with Scrap from Containers
Izayos weapons packs are a must. So much great work there.
Compopack POI collection so I get to see new (to me) POIs on occasion.

It's coming in vanilla and I'll use it when it's added, but it isn't something I'd ever add with a mod.

I am struggling with where it will fit in to the survival aspect. It seems nice to have but what will it do for players.

It only applies for early game play to allow skipping checking nests on your travels and killing a few chickens. Once steak and potatoes is unlocked, rarely is bacon and eggs made anymore. Feathers are ubiquitous and only a sought after item for a hard core stealth bow run before steel heads are available.
