PC What do you think about a Workshop for sharing maps?

Just wondering if a Workshop where we can upload Player-Made Maps would be popular.

[And of course POI's]

I'm not sure how big of a project for TFP to make that it would be but....

...it would sure be great!

Not just making our own POI's but tailor making maps! That would be fantastic!

Mods like Guppy's Medieval Mod would REALLY benefit from it!

I wonder, anyone else think this might be a good idea?

Add your suggestions.

Workshop is a planned feature after the game goes Gold.

Not sure it will work for maps though. The map for the new server I just made is 3.6GB. It's not even fully explored yet.

So how do we conquer that?

Zip files would help a bit.

Still.... that's a lot of data to move around.

What if shared maps were also limited in size?

Fully explored, and lightly used, the map is 12.1GB. That's a standard 10km RWG.

Even with max compression you aren't going to make them that much smaller.

Maybe something could be done to compress them further with a more specific tool for the data in the files.

Yeah even if you could get it down to 5-8 GB it might be feasible.

Less block layers underground on shared maps?

Maybe make the world smaller and less in it kinda thing.
