PC What do you guys do at night in A17?

Hi, I'm back after a couple of months break.

What do you guys do at night? In A16, at least I could get some crafting done and get a couple of skill up, but right now it looks to me like AFking is the best way to ride the night out.

It seems to me like A17 is more about scavenging and zombie fighting, both things I don't do at night.

What's your daily routine?

It's not that dangerous outside. Easy to hide from zombies, even if you accidentally get close to them. If they actually do aggro you, running away a bit and dropping back into sneak mode will make them lose you.

If you have a point invested in "boom headshot!" you can kill solitary zombies by getting a sneak bow hit on them and then running up to finish with a melee blow to the head before they get back up.

I tend to go outside and collect some resources or do a bit of travelling to a quest location (so I don't burn daylight just running). It's pretty doable, especially once you get your hands on night vision goggles.

Yup. You can actually be tactical now lol. I tend to, if I don't have crafting or base-work to do, go out and do the normal stuff, mining and etc. Killing if I don't have too big of a horde nearby -- stealth is awesome. I do keep my heavy armor on me at night now, if it's in the later-game stages.

Omg lmfao.

i tend to mine or do whatever resource gathering needs i have. i mine differently in alpha 17, got caught in dead end tunnels by diggers a few times so i do open pit minning instead. this way if a horde runs by i have escape paths and room to evade em. dont fear the random zombies out there, very easy to kill them one or two at a time even the first night. turn up gamma a little bit if you need better vision, but if you stay outside the moonlight is pretty strong for most of the night. something ive been trying in the last build is clearing houses during the day then tearing the house apart at night, all those goods on pallets they pile up as obstacles give some decent resources. the big blue bags give you cobblestone, the stacks of bags give you concrete mix, stacks of bricks give a good amount of stone, and the shamway appliance boxes give you mechanical and electrical parts(not a lot but you dont need a wrench)

Same thing I did prior to any patch, exactly the same thing, just less of it because stamina being prominently depreciating.

Explore

Kill any zed on sight

Avoid doggies unless I have enough arrows to flinch lock them. (Leather!)

Scavenge

Build

Farm

Ect.

I've played a very long time,(4600 hours) and aren't inhibited by night a few minor adjustments were made, in fact I love nights more on multiplayer, other players are too scared to move leaving more for me.

Yeah MP is going to favour the brave even more than it used to.

Also... going to be some very scary nights ahead.... hahaha!

Cheers.

The first few days, when exploring and scouting for a decent place to make a base

i don't do much at night, just hunkering down at some rooftop, and if bored enough,

i just use dm mode and skip the night.

When i have found a location , most likely a suitable poi i can convert to a horde

base for the first 2 - 3 horde nights, i work on that one at night, and keep exploring/killing

at day.

I put the zombies on Walk/jog/sprint/jog and don't be a little female dog. Day or night, just play the game like you have a pair.

I love the night. I set the z on "always run" so as soon I have a frontal light, day and night are pretty similar. I go explore POIs. And those are the best and most creepy moments in my games.

Like most other people around here, I AFK in game for the night and go to 7D2D forums to post cool stories about my night adventures.

BS aside, the first few days you won't have the stamina to complete even the most basic gathering and fighting tasks at night. Your best bet is to crouch in your base and read the in-game journal. You can dig and mine, of course, but only if you are a serious masochist.

Once you have a few skill points and some decent equipment, you can do pretty much anything you want at night, till then - post cool stories.

In SP I'm a sneaking, slithering slimy SOB!!! <EG> Basically everything I do in the day with the exception of the quests... I think it would be way, way to dangerous to do them at night! Just sayin! :)

In MP - we're about to find out in 5 minutes lol

Set the Ferals on Run and it gives an approximation of Dead Island: older, weaker zombies walk, while fresher, stronger zombies run. Seems more intuitive and immersive that way.

I play on a stream with Satsu2Cents and it depends on how far into the game we are. The first few nights we tend to hunker down and just talk to our audience as we wait for that sweet daytime music to play. As we gain skills, we go out and gather resources or work on crafting. At this stage we sometimes will purposefully make a lot of noise to bring zombies in and mow em down.

I freaking love that game!!!

Shame the next one is taking so long.

I really hope we see Dead Island II in 2019.

Hollywood Zombies!

What I do at night depends on one major thing, do I have Night vision or mining helm/headlamp mod. I mod the light value of headlamp mod and mining helm to 0.001 so zombies don't see it and it doesn't effect stealth, besides in a17 b240 zombies have super hearing again and hear you from miles away again.

Really dislike how the night vision goggles cut off a large portion of my screen.

I loved Dead Island, but I think it was bc I played it 100% in a 4 player group. Don't think I would have found it as good playing alone.

Have you played Dying Light? Best zombie game of that style
