Hey guys,
as A17 progresses, a lot of balance changes have been made but the road still seems quite long. I wanted to make this thread so we could list / discuss what YOU think needs to be addressed. Not talking about complete feature overhauls here, but mostly balance changes. It may also give you some ideas of modlets you can create/install.
My input :
- firearms should be super rare but should surpass any other weapon in the game and feel like a major find. Right now, I swim in weapons but still use my bow because the damage input isn't all that different and arrows are super easy to sustain (and it's quiet).
- melee weapons balance. A level 1 machete is on par with a level 1 iron reinforced club. The first needs forged steel to be crafted/repaired, the second one is a day 1 weapon
- melee weapons differentiation. Right now, I don't think bladed weapons are all that different to blunt weapons. I think each need to pack some special ability, like bladed weapons having more chance of dismemberment and blunt weapons having some sort of stun/disorientation feature
- feathers should be harder to sustain "in the wild", but there should be something craftable like a birdcage if you need more of them
- quality should improve tools/weapons beyond just having more mod slots and a better durability
- complex food recipes should be more rewarding, either applying some buffs, filling a wellness buffer, or whatever. Right now bacon & eggs is all you need and it totally shuts down a big part of the survival aspect of the game
- water is still a non-issue
- hunger shouldn't start draining max stamina as soon as it depletes, but should start doing so at 70% or something like that (I know you can "overeat", but it's just a silly implementation of the same feature)
- harvesting animals should yield more meat with a hunting knife than with a basic bone shiv
- unmodded steel tools (for example if you're "lucky" to find a level 1 steel pickaxe early) are barely an improvement over a basic stone axe given the attack speed and the stamina usage, not even mentionning repair costs
- zombie loot should be zombie specific, both in content and in probability. While I think 2% for the easiest zombies is good, I think for example bikers could be set to something like 10%. Also, nurses should drop medicine, workers should drop tools/resources, etc...
I'm sure there's a ton more, eager to read your thoughts !
