PC What am i doing wrong?

Ok i used the Steam forums before but seems like only half-brained kids use the Steam forums.

So i try asking here, what am i doing wrong? i cant forge Steel ingots. I have one picture of me trying to craft steel ingots and another pic showing i have the skill to make them. Btw i have reached now 900 hours of playing and im playing version 17.1 (stable) right now.

Relogging doesnt work, the same bug does my brother have aswell.

As far as I can see, you're doing everything right. This must be a bug in the game or hunger has an effect on the skills like the near death debuff or overheating.

Have you taken the game from 17.0 or started a new one in 17.1 ?

Did you validate the game files ?

Do you use any modlets ?

 
What does it say when you click 'Craft'? It usually tells you why you cannot make a thing.

You don't have the resources

You don't have the tools

You don't know the recipe

etc

Its a fresh started alpha 17.1 map. The hunger didnt decrease the ability to craft steel (otherwise the "ok" or "bought" skill would turn red in that one picture.

When i click on the greyed out "craft" button it tells me "You are missing the Recipe".

You even see nextto the steel ingot that dude with hat is greyed out :rapture:

Then I'd say it's a bug. As far as I can see all requirements are fulfilled to be able to produce steel.

 
OK I have noticed another suspicious discrepancy in your screenshots that makes me think this is a broken mod? Hammer and Forge normally goes to 5 points. Your screenshot stops at 4 (Steel making) and level 4 has the padlock icon meaning you cannot put any more points into this skill. Basically the next level of this perk (crafting Military armour) is completely missing.

Your Charismatic Nature is also showing max 4 when it should be 5. Every perk goes to 5 basically, so something very wrong here.

EDIT: And I just noticed you cannot make Steel Arrows either, and those only need Hammer and Forge 3.

Current game version is 17.2 b6.

If you are running an old save (17.1) you will run into problems and errors.

Game changed how progression and skills work in 17.2 and thats likely why you are having these errors.

Update to 17.2 to win and start a new file or; Make sure to right click 7d2d, click the beta tab and load 17.1 instead of 17.2

Also to note; Uninstalling and re-installing will not work to fix a mod issue.

Youll need to MANUALLY delete 7d2d folder and reinstall the program.

 
Charismatic Nature and Forge perk definitely have 5 tiers.

Yours do not so something broke your game files.

The first thing to do would be a complete Steam file check and to disable any mods that may override game files.

 
I really dont run any modifications, i like 7 days to die how it is. (mods can be fun, but mods in an alpha game wont make sense for me because updates to the main game will break mostly all kinds of mods)

The server is 17.1 aswell without custom xml modding or other kind of serverside-modding (just some edits to day lenght etc, the standard thing if you setup a server).

Im not sure if 17.2 has 5 perk levels because i never played it before. My brother has 17.1 aswell and has just 4 perks aswell.

EDIT: before i joined the 17.1 server i had 17.2 exp installed due automatic update, i couldnt join the server because of wrong version. After downgrading it worked well joining the server. But my brother had experimental versions deactivated and has the same problem. We both cant even craft Anvils.

I would even join an English/German Discord or Teamspeak to get things cleared up faster.

Might this be a problem with localization ? From the Screenshots it looks like hes playing in Deutsch , and if the localization is wrong , it can do weird things to the game.
