Well, the jars do get a comeback it seems.

I don't mind it, though it wasn't really necessary. But I can see it from their perspective: I'd be tired on the nonstop whining about it. Easy enough to add them back and get people to shut up about it. Though as someone mentioned in another thread, it will probably just open the floodgates of people thinking if they complain enough other things will come back. I'd bet empty cans will be next. Haha.

Hopefully there will also be some tuning on water in general since not much has changed since the dew collector was added. Actually it got even easier when they changed it to not need the filter to craft. I've currently nerfed the hell out of murky water found in loot so at least the collector has a purpose.

I'm relatively indifferent to jars themselves, but from a mechanic standpoint in previous iterations they really made water trivial, I just hope however it works out in the new update. Cook times or recipe costs are adjusted so that we find we just have enough water to drink/craft. not so much we're swimming in it.

Finally, little logical aspect returns to the game! But still there are tons of game issues to fix what TFP made before
TFP need to learn to "don't break what's not broken"! They wasted tons of time on bull■■■■ stuff since A17
Just....how bad whole game situation must be to force some players to go back to A16

Well the dew collectors weren´t any better in that term. Water is also trivial with them. So easy to get 4 or 5 going in the first two days.

I consider dew collectors marginally better. I usually check the collectors every couple days, with old jars, I was filling them often for about the first week.. but it wouldn't be long before I had 50, 100 jars.. then I'd fill them all at once and that would be it for another 2-3 ingame weeks.
.. I suspect this will be a downgrade to water management. Congrats to those that rallied for this.

Also with dew collectors, the pipes in the recipe are used for making the forge and crafting/repairing much of the T0 weaponry, making it feel like more of a choice of where those first mats will be going(-And tape is also kinda rare and valuable early on as well). I know a few days ago I started a fresh world and I had to choose between making a forge and making a dew collector because of supplies being limited.. I made the forge to secure that cooking pot. -It felt like a meaningful choice, and I'm hesitant to believe managing when fill your jars will be as satisfying.

.. Maybe that 3.0 event system will add a chance for zombies to spawn under water, then pop up and ambush you when you get those jars out. ;)

Strange it wasn't announced here. I am surprised, it took so long for the "news" to hit the official forums and how little reaction it seems to gave garnered.

I long for a meaningful water processing mechanic, I don't much care whether jars are a key part of it or not.

Literally, the title of Joel's post feels like a giant FU to the player base, regardless of which side you fell on.

Nobody every claimed that madmole was diplomatic ;). But he has humour, the title is a good imitation of trader Rect

Thanks, you just proved my point. 😁

That's an interesting observation. With how many people were complaining about them, now that they are going to return, there's silence. Where are all the people jumping for joy over it? There are some who are saying they are happy here, but not a lot. And even many of those who do don't seem to be very excited about it. It makes you wonder how many really cared about them versus how many just wanted an easy thing to complain about.

I'm happy if the jars came back, although I never complain too much about the change. For me, it doesn't have that much impact on gameplay compared to other mechanics. I've always said that it wasn't necessary to remove the jars to introduce other forms of gathering, such as the dew collector. If tfp asked in this forum, I'd prefer the hoe and fertilizer to come back.

I dunno, I slapped you in the face two years ago, told you to get over it for two years, and now I say I'm sorry; how excited are you going to be? :P
"All right, glad you came to your senses."

Plus, personally I'm just waiting to see the implementation before commenting anything; for all I know, it might be just madmole with the A16-overhaul just trolling everyone. Nothing to even comment yet, nor rejoice over.
