Water straw and other water changes

Instead of the water filter mod for helmets. Which is a bit overpowered.

Instead it should be a handheld water filter

Water straw: given out during the outbreak and sold in stores in case of the worst. This Hand held water filter helps clean water but it won't last forever. Breaks over time and can't be repaired

and other progression tiers

Water pump: a electrical water pump that extract waters from the ground, holds 14 and produces 4 per hour. Can increase to 6 with tarp and other water mods..

Mods: water filter, gather, Tarp

Cost: 200 plastic, 30 forged Iron, 20 pipes, 10 mechanical parts, 20 tape

Space: 3x4 blocks

Industrial Water pump: a high grade water pump that produces even more water but it's very expensive.   Can produce 6 water per hour and holds 24. Can produces 8 with tarp.

Mods: Water filter, Gather, tarp

Cost: 1 water pump, 100 steel, 3 legendary parts, 20 tape, 200 plastic

Space: 4x4 blocks

I absolutely love the idea of a water straw, a la Life Straw that has a limited number of uses. It could be put in your toolbelt and while equipped, you can take a drink from a body of water without the harmful side effects.

I agree the helmet filter mod is way too OP, though they still take up a critical mod slot. They're easy enough to find and make water completely moot.

I recently just found one and I'm basically don't need to worry about water anymore I only use mine to get glue

The water pumps are very reminiscent of Fallout 4.
That's where most of the inspiration came from

Я даже витамины не употреблял... первые 2 игры, никаких проблем. Текущая игра... дизентерия.  ;)
Dysentery is a chance. It may happen, it may not. I had vitamins and simply chose not to risk it. With vitamins, you can eat and drink anything without fear of dysentery. Sometimes at the beginning of the game I ate rotten bread.

Yeah, I know.  I don't really care about such debuffs.  They aren't a big deal and a goldenrod tea solves the problem pretty quickly.  The only debuffs that I really don't like are breaks and sprains because they slow you down drastically, especially if you're still on foot, which is usually the only time that I ever get sprains and breaks because I'm usually max parkour not long after I'm mobile and I don't get too many broken or sprained legs except from jumps or falls.

By the time I find either the schematic to make one, one shows up in the trader inventory, or I find one via looting / questing, I am able to make my own water from my dew collector and boiling water in the campfire.  And since I tend to hit house POIs early game, I am always already able to cook the teas / yucca juice so I always prioritize those over the mod.

The only time I would probably use that mod is if I decided to get that spot back for drinks for looting, but I never had a high enough justification to do that (I just go back later to get any thing I looted but unable to bring back with me).

Yes, this is a problem. But I can put a splint or plaster on a fracture, but this doesn’t work with a dislocation. Last night (120 minutes per day) my leg was broken 2 times while I was hunting dead bears in the wasteland.
Well, one point in physician lets you instantly cure a sprain.  But I almost never put points in that.
