PC Water Bucket making a well

If this helps in one of the houses there's a pool I was removing water happened to place blocks and remove them from the inside out if I removed all the blocks all the water we spread at the same height so maybe place one bucket of water down get another bucket of water and place on the block above it I have not tested it but maybe it'll work and make it deeper

 
I did try to fill a 1x1 hole up but the water does not mix.  It shows half full but the 2nd bucket of water sits up 1 block.  To better explain it maybe I should say a bucket of water will show half a block but the game thinks its a full block.  Hopefully that makes sense.
